Never really thought of myself as one fond of hangings. I've always been a crux gal...
...dying a slow death, so stoically, on the cross...
Yet, these hanging images have sparked a new fantasy that may have been dormant, but now has new fascination for me.
This image accompanies the second one above and seems to come just moment before the support dropped away...

Though hanging is a much faster death, it still has its moments...
...the final moments...waiting for the drop...

...then...soon unconsciousness...I find this image especially poignant...

The traditional altar and knife.
The Mayans were big on this.
Or pushed into a cenote (sinkhole).
Then there are the ancient Greeks and their seamonster
Looks like Perseus was late in the third one. But the mermaids got there revenge (The Little Mermaid was abandoned by the Prince so she vowed to get him and his new bride.
Then of course the delightful anticipation of waiting for the high priest with his stone knife.
