I haven't seen the movie either ... but the quickness and violence with which her arm is stretched catches the eye and excites.

From a cultural viewpoint, you missed nothing, unless you're a religious fanatic. I hated the movie. The scene I was referring to : just before the nailing, the Romans dislocate Jesus' shoulder to make his wrist fit with a supposed already 'existing hole' in the cross. Gratuitous Mel Gibson delirium, and much less erotic than Bartnel's composition

Yes, I've seen Mel Gibson's one (I didn't remember it was done in in that year...)
It was really horrible and I didn't like that at all ... but maybe realistic after all ?
In that time, romans executed criminals that way, not to excite people but to frighten & deter them to do bad things... in order to keep "pax romana" in the whole empire, I suppose ?

I like all three animations, the facial expressions, the movements, just great work Bartnel.
The last animation got me to thinking, what does she think kicking her legs is going to do? Stop her crucifixion?
She is already helpless, with her wrists already nailed to the wood. Crucifixion is inevitable, there is no stopping it.

I could watch these scenes over and over and over again in an endless continuous loop. Each time focusing on a different part of the anatomy to watch all the bodily reactions. Undoubtedly the most wonderful animation we've ever been graced with on this site.

Sorry, forgot to answer : no, I used keyframing and Inverse kinematics.
My only (very minor) complaint is with my internet since they GIFs were not posted as thumbnails all GIFs on any one page (not post) have to load before I can watch the latest ones...
I'll suffer with it!!!
