Trying to escape :

But no hope :

(It occurs after this one )

I really like the way the guy is carrying the victim toward her cross in that second picture. I've had some similar situations where one of the guards reaches his hand between her legs and lifts the girl up to the whipping post, and where he grabs her ass to force her toward the cross when she balks and digs her heels in. The one you've done here is interesting.

In the first picture, I don't get the sense that she is running desperately, trying to get away. I think she needs to be leaning forward more, right shoulder twisted and raised more. Don't get me wrong, this is constructive criticism! I really like the way her head is turned toward the source of her fear, the men who are about to crucify her, and her expression of terror. This is a woman in panic, no longer thinking rationally, only wanting to escape or at least delay what is about to be done to her.

I took it that she was trying to sneak off, Jedakk.

Yeah, that occurred to me too later. I suppose there's more than one way to attempt - and I emphasize attempt - to escape when you're about to be crucified. Kind of like that old Paul Simon song, "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" - she might be trying the "slip out the back, Jack" one!

I also tried another way :

... but I prefer the first one !

I like that one too, but I also prefer the first one. If I were going to do something like this one, I think I'd have her head twisted around, trying to see the cross behind her. As I think about it, she would be in a panic, desperate to escape the cross, so it's her ultimate threat and source of fear. If her head is turned toward it, then we can see the horror on her face. But, of course, first she has to escape the guard who is overwhelmingly stronger than she is. So maybe it's a toss-up as to which of the two, the guard or the cross, holds her immediate attention.

Except for very close views, I think that this "old" Victoria 3 is as good as newer characters as Victoria 6 & 7 families ... in fact, better in a few aspects : Victoria 7 family doesn't seem to be compatible with Poser, so impossible to load her within Vue I suppose ... and Victoria 6 family is possible but with a few problems !

Victoria 4 remains my favorite one.
I made another attempt with the "3 sisters" scene, but replacing a Vicky 2 with a Vicky 4 character .
2 views of the same moment (I also changed light and atmosphere).

I'm not clever enough to distinguish between the three girls, but I think that the whole scene is incredible! :)

I'd need a larger, higher resolution render to really tell the difference. When I've tried mixing V4 and V3 characters in a scene the results were not that good. Also the rigging for V3 is so much different than for V4 that the posing controls are not quite the same, plus facial morphs are altogether different. V2 I had thought I might use for background characters because of the lower resolution, but haven't.

Now having said that, this is a great scene! The nailing and raising scenes are by far the most dramatic part of a crucifixion in my opinion. Having the other two victims hanging on crosses on either side of her shows what is about to happen to this one; she will be joining them in another moment when they drop the base of her cross into its hole and begin the slow process of dying. Lots of possibilities for this scene, various ways you might do it.

I think it spectacular. Except for you and Jedakk many artist skip this whole part of the crucifixion!!!

And it must surely be the most agonising and terrifying of all,
while she's still fully conscious and the pain of the nailing's still surging through her,
and the strain on her tortured wrists, arms, body and legs grows in warning jolts as the cross is lifted,
with a sickening thud as it drops into its socket!

Terrific artwork and animations, such beauties and so much lovely suffering. Thanks :p

I totally agree - the rising of the cross and also the nailing/tying is often left out of the stories. Very nice to see this part as well, since it is an important part of the whole seance...
These parts of crucifixion are very hard to illustrate, the angles, getting the physics right, and adequately portraying the agony of the victim at that terrible moment.

Few are the artists that get that right, Jedakk and Bartnel are among those that do.

I totally appriciate that - not being an artist myself, I am just happy that we have talented people, who can pull this off ...
