And now for something completely different as Monty Python might have said.
Did you know that there are two versions of the Norman Conquest of England?
One is French, the other English. One is in Bayeaux, the other in Reading, UK. But of more interest here - one has naughty bits, the other doesn't.

Well, the Victorians had to censor it, didn't they? You wouldn't want to leave an ankle showing.;):eek::D Might cause degenerate influence on youth.:rolleyes:

It's a wonder the population of Britain didn't die out, with sex such an unmentionable and unshowable subject.

But then who needs to talk, and who needs to see......................
My understanding is that people are most likely most obsessed with exactly what they're censoring. In this case, the Victorians were preoccupied with sex, I suspect. There was no real danger of the English dying out. ;):devil:

Just make a visit to Cruxton Abbey and tour the dungeon and the four poster bedrooms, and don’t miss the paintings on the walls ... oh those Victorian Wraggs ... what they didn’t do behind closed doors!!!!!

:biggrin::biggrin:
There's a mystery about the image that's in the main picture above that little guy ...

'Where one cleric and Aelgyva...' and the sentence is left unfinished.
What were they up to? No-one knows, it seems to be a hint at a bit of court gossip
about something that went on when Harold visited William's court in Normandy,
but it's a mystery now.
