Maybe she doesn't look so much happy and comforted - perhaps she missed a coverlet ;) - but at least it's better to be fucked by one's own husband than by some unknown slave or soldier, not mentioned a sharpened pole.

The pose looks pretty standard: a young woman, innocent and humble, ashamed with her nudity and full of sadness in articulo mortis. I have focused on her mental torment, I have even added no blood to her wounds. And the background is unclear and intriguing: are they a couple? or are they father and daughter? or two random, nameless victims, unknown to one another? Who knows...?

Yes - I love the hanging head, the shame. Probably most of all, I love the visible GRAVITY. I think that must be challenging to capture well. Often crux victims appear almost comfortable, and I don’t feel the HANGING. Well done!!

Yes, I like this one too ... for all the reasons stated above. I can relate ... head bowed ... to the shame implied. Have I been crucified ... facing him ... through guilt by association with his crimes, not mine? Has he betrayed me and condemned us both to suffer and die together on facing crosses? I do think he would be someone I know. Family member? Friend? Lover? Fellow rebel? Any of the above?

Anna was sold on a slave market when her father wasn't able to pay his debts. Bought by an old, rich veteran officer to be a sex toy for his son, she escaped from his villa to save her virginity, and she succeed: she saved her virginity. She lost only all her clothes, all her dignity, all the hope, a significant amount of blood (being mercilessly flogged and nailed) and, finally, after few more days full of unimaginable sadness, fear and pain, she lost her once splendid body, devoured by vultures.

Absolutely amazing, Andy. The woman is humiliated by being displayed for everyone to see, and the man is humiliated by being unable to protect her from being put up on the cross. He can only whisper in her ear, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

He probably got caught up with rebels or brigands and sealed her fate in the process.
