Ilford was my paper of choice, though most of my chemicals were Kodak. I did really like using a bit of selenium toner!
I can't even remember any other option being available here than Ilford...
I still have several film cameras, including a number of postwar German Contax rangefinders and associated fittings. I haven't had a film developed for years, not even sure where to go!
My first camera ever was a (rather useless) Kodak pocket film thing. I think it was called Ektralite.
Then, shortly before his death in 1981, my grandfather on my father's side gave me his old Edixa camera. That changed everything...

These bluish throwaway flash cubes?
Just barely.
I do remember my grandfather using them for the obligatory Christmastime family photos, that would have been in the early 1970s. Before I went to school.
Such a great invention. With a motorized drive, you could take four quick photos!!!!! (also use more film which Kodak and the film processors loved!)

He may have been, but. . .
his name was just plain Buffalo Bob.

His actual name was Bob Smith. He invented the Hoody character on radio, it came from the old Western US Greeting Hoody Do? (How do you do?). Smith was from Buffalo NY and so became Buffalo Bob Smith (also in homage to the Western celebrity Buffalo Bob.)
The show's jingle was the first song I learned according to my parents. (the show started in 1947, the year before I was born)

Is that what the 3rd one is? We didn't get it here, probably because everyone would have said "that's not a kangaroo!"

With the exception of the third, I know all of this

My first camera was a Box Brownie which
my grandfather - on his deathbed - sold to me.
Boy, you two are lucky.
On his deathbed in 1971, my grandfather RENTED me his Leica I

For a year! For $25! The worst part was returning it after a year. Who knew graves were so hard to dig up!
