I've experienced being tied like that - done that way, it's not actually painful,
but you're very aware that your arms are firmly fixed, that even a slight tug could hurt a lot,
and your Master or Captor can use the rope as a handle to make you walk, bow, kneel etc.
using just one hand (and a whip or cane in the other!)
