Bartnel's Inferno

Horror movie, it seems ... Thx for the link .

1 or even 2 days to realize it !
Hey Messaline ! 1 or 2 days is NOT a long time for creating a CG animation ;)

CG imagery is a highly specialised job and CG animation even more.
I can use enough easily 3 softwares : Lightwave, Poser & Vue Infinite. I need to add Photoshop for creating/modifying textures (that is also very important).
Documentation for VUE Infinite is larger than 980 pages for example...
For all those software, ( I confess ;) ) there is a very large amount of functionalities I don't know at all !

in that they make things easier for the the unskilled to do.
That's right for software like DAZ, I suppose ... but good results will ALWAYS need work and time (like everything in this world :D )

Holidays are over :(

The new movie I'm working on (some parts were already done some time ago, but the complete process was never made) ... I wonder how many weeks it will take this time .
Never mind ! As usual, I'll share a few short extracts here on Cruxforum.

In search of a good & warm sunset ambience. I'll call this test : "agony at the end of day"

For me it's Poser, which I know pretty well, Photoshop, which I'm also pretty good with, and Zbrush which I'm currently struggling to learn. You're right, there is a lot to learn and a lot of functionality that we probably don't use much.

@jedakk : Zbrush is for modelling, no ? It looks great ...

Bartnel, Zbrush is incredible! You see CGI effects all the time that were done using it. It's completely different than any other modeling program because rather than modeling things geometrically, you sculpt them, like working with a clay model. Here's a pretty cool promo video they did that shows some of the CGI done with Zbrush for movies:

And I hope to one day have the skills to sculpt like that!

Difficult to do "many more"... except if I can get many more time ....maybe 50 hours per day would be good for example ?

My first movie "Inferno" (the blond girl with demons in a red dark place) was 6mn40 s 800x450 size (no sound).

The next movie "Inferno 2017" was 13 mn long 1024x576 size with sound.
It is simply a rework of previous work with additional scenes, other environment and rendered with Poser engine instead of VUE Infinite.

The one I currently work on "Elaine story" has 4 parts . 2 parts are finished and the duration is more than 10 mn... so, I suppose the overall duration will be around 20 mn ! (size will stay the same) with sound.
It is rendered with VUE engine because VUE outdoor renderings are way better than Poser or DAZ (and VUE is FAST : I can now render animations with radiosity, soft shadows and depth blur ...)

Now, I think : "this is the last time I do such a long movie !"
But it is always the same : when I do a scene, I think : "Hmmm, it would be interesting to show the moment when she arrives in the place where she will be executed" this means more than 1 week of additional work ... and so on ! ;)
Very much looking forward to read the "story"!!

(an important moment in my idea)

NB: sorry, I can't insert as thumbnail : it simply adds a thumbnail, it seems ?

So Bartnel, are you doing something like one-second animations and piecing those together, or longer ones and then clipping pieces out of them? I never tried doing such short flashes like that, but it works well for this scene.

It's an important moment for me, too!

Love the zoom in to the instruments of crucifixion at the end!

Oh, that got the Tree union seal of approval ... what more could one want? :p

Thanks, this is absolutley amazing stuff! I Like her tearful eyes and that she is dressed at this stage......would be wonderful to see a gif where she is stripped before crucifixion.....if you ever make a mini movie of the Elaine story, (hopefully with some sound), put me up on your customer list!

Wow! That's so good, love every moment of it!

It's an important moment for me, too!

Love the zoom in to the instruments of crucifixion at the end!

And the little startled shake of her head when she sees them.

I Like her tearful eyes and that she is dressed at this stage......

And the fact that pathetic little dress is stained with blood,
she's been whipped, then made to put it on again for her last walk ...

Thx everybody :)

@jedakk : in fact it is a contraction of 35" of animation, ... in order to keep the animated gif enough small.

The value of final movie will be expensive, I'm afraid ... but I 'm currently thinking of doing a very shortened "trailer" that could be affordable for most people ? ... the problem is : what amount can be considered as "affordable" (please, only MP for answers if you have an idea ...)

More coming soon ( for xso ;) )

A bit hard to say, but I guess up to $40 would be ok for a good movie......however, total revenue is as you know the sum of quantity sold x price per quantity...........lower price, higher quantity sold......hard to say which price would bring the maximum total revenue........in any case your work gives us almost maximum satisfaction....;) Keep on cruxing!
