Cristina Brondo in "Penumbra," a fairly effective Argentinian horror movie from 2012. Brondo plays a bitchy real estate agent who is trying to sell an apartment to a fairly sketchy group. They turn out to be a cult working to bring about the apocalypse during a total eclipse of the sun. As we all know, this requires human sacrifice . Brondo is in the way, so she has her clothes torn open, is gagged, tied to a chair, and smeared with oil. She tries to get away, and manages to free herself from the chair, though not from her bonds. Her hopping about in that revealing purple bra is a sight to behold.

I found myself thinking and fantasizing more about this after I signed off last night. I imagined myself as a young actress struggling to make a name for myself, reading the script for this movie and being strangely intrigued by a scene where my clothes are torn open to reveal my ample breasts in a skimpy bra. I'm gagged and bound, and then my chest is smeared with oil ("What the fuck?" I'm thinking). Then I'm hopping about while still bound....which doesn't make much of an impression on me when I read it in the script....but in rehearsals it becomes clear that the whole idea is to get my almost bare boobs bouncing wildly about for the camera! Rather than finding it degrading, I find it tremendously exciting. My nipples grow rock hard under my bra, as we go through multiple takes. I suspect that not all of these takes are truly necessary...rather the director and film crew are just enjoying the show I'm putting on. That's okay, because I'm certainly enjoying it myself.

I just googled that movie and see that it's available on Hulu. I'll definitely check it out soon. Thanks for the tip, John! :D

Here too the plot is misleading making literally impossible to discern between good and bad guys. There is even a police inspector acting at the same time both as a policeman and a kidnapper:
it's ultimately uneasy to individuate who is who. As usual also transitions from real to dream and viceversa do not help. Oddly enough a bunch of famous Actors(Jean Louis Trintignant, Philippe Noiret)along with some others on the verge of celebrity (Sylvia Kristel, Agostina Belli, etc. ) took part to the film. The story consists of a kidnapping (never carriedd out) of a Banker's daughter and the plans of this one to trap his enemies, with the support of the police inspector (Trintignant)at the moment of paying the ransom. Both Noiret's (the Banker) and Trintignant's (the Inspector) characters are ambiguous. In the meantime the Banker's daughter is shut by her own father, on pretention of her safety, in an "exclusive residence" actually a de luxe bordello where affluent international customers are able to give vent to all kinds of perversions.

How to sell a movie?
Get a teasing poster!
View attachment 735821

‘Flesh and the Spur’ is a 1956 low budget B&W western, produced by American International Pictures (AIP). The story, is, well, about cowboys, obviously, since it is a Western. A cowboy hunts down the men who murdered his brother. Revenge, a classic theme in a Western. Underway, he meets an Indian women, played by Marla English.

Whatever! There is curious story about the poster. One day, during pre-production, the producers of the movie were summoned to the AIP headquarters. They were shown the poster that would be used to sell it. It showed English’s character, scantly clothed and tied to a stake, standing upon an ant hill. The producers replied that there was not such a scene in the script. So, AIP ordered them to include one (it seems to have been a common pre-sell practice).

The side story of the ant hill is that English is caught by members of her tribe, and gets punished because she has slept with a white man. The good guy is around, but exactly then, he is involved in the final shootout with the bad guys, so he has his own priorities! Will he come back in time to save his pretty companion to get her saved from being eaten slowly?

The ant hill scene is rather brief. Marla English is never shown from the front, as she appears on the poster. From close by, you only see her legs, or her anxious looks over her bare shoulders. There is one distant scene, rather blurred, and with some vegetation in the way, showing her from the back. The act and scenery suggest the Indians stripped her naked!

The backstory of the poster and the anthill scene is on Wikipedia, and many other sources

From which I recall this quote:
“Alex Gordon recalled dropping ants on the bound and gagged Marla. However, the ants would promptly run away from her. The ungagged Marla finally asked Gordon "Look, you've got six ants there, isn't that enough?”

I say no more! Just enjoy this beautiful gem of a woman in peril scene :

Nice! This is the kind of thing I grew up with, although I never saw this particular picture. I would have been a little too young for it. And a good thing too! I can't imagine what kind of a pervert I would have grown up into if I'd seen the anthill scene when I was young and impressionable!

Watching this with a more jaded eye, I couldn't help but notice how fat the Indians there were back then. The trio in this scene look like they've had more than their fair share of buffalo wings.

Did they even use real Indians in those old western movies?

I love your fantasy! Now you've got me going! How about after multiple takes with you hopping around with your bouncing breasts, the director yells "Cut!" and says he's just not happy with it. He speaks quietly to an actor in the scene. "Places!" he yells, "Alright everyone! Last take, let's make it a good one!" The actor the director spoke to comes up to you, pulls a pair of scissors from behind his back and cuts your bra open. "And Action!"

I wonder if the Lone Ranger ever knew what “Kemo Sabe” really meant
According to Wikipedia:
Ultimately derived from gimoozaabi, an Ojibwe and Potawatomi word that may mean "he/she looks out in secret",[1] it is sometimes translated as "trusty scout" or "faithful friend".[2]
Jim Jewell, director of The Lone Ranger from 1933 to 1939, took the phrase from Kamp Kee-Mo Sah-Bee, a boys' camp on Mullett Lake in Michigan, established by Charles W. Yeager (Jewell's father-in-law) in 1916.[3] Yeager himself probably took the term from Ernest Thompson Seton, one of the founders of the Boy Scouts of America, who had given the meaning "scout runner" to Kee-mo-sah'-bee in his 1912 book "The Book of Woodcraft and Indian Lore"
So it was a somewhat corrupted Native American phrase, made-up for Hollywood.

After a brief moment of horror, I remind myself that I intend to do whatever it takes to make a name for myself in this industry. And so I begin my dance hop.

Off topic, but this reminded me of another movie which IMHO had the best title of any movie, ever: "Sukiyaki Western Django," directed by Takashi Miike. It was an homage to "Django," and various other spaghetti westerns, especially "For A Few Dollars More," which was itself basically a remake as a Western of the Japanese samurai movie "Yojimbo." (One of my favorite movies ever.)

From the "Sukiyaki Western Django" entry on Wikipedia: The ending text reveals that a few years later, Heihachi (one of the characters in "Sukiyaki") travels to Italy and becomes the gunslinger known as "Django". LOL. So we've come full circle.

Miike has his own particular style, and is known for the bizarre, over the top violence in many of his movies. Scenes that would be quite at home on this particular forum. I'll see if I can't scare up some screencaps.

Yes. I heard of this title some time ago, but never was attracted to see it. May be I lost something. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

While looking for Takashi Miike movies, I stumbled over "Gerald's Game" on Netflix. It's a movie from 2017, based on a book by Stephen King. I thought this was a well done, well acted, compelling movie. And it illustrates why our parents told us never to play with handcuffs.

Carla Gugino plays Jessie, and Bruce Greenwood is her husband Gerald, who wants to spice up their struggling marriage with a little bondage and rape game. He handcuffs Jessie to the bedposts, and admires her while he takes a Viagra.

gerald2.PNGgerald3.PNGgerald5.PNGgerald7.PNG Jessie's not too sure about this. But she's willing to play along, until she can't get into the spirit of the game and the two start arguing.

"Let me go!" She says to Gerald.

"What if I don't?" he says.

gerald10.PNGgerald11.PNGLooks like Gerald's getting frisky! Uh, no, he's had a heart attack. He's dead.

gerald1.PNGgerald14.PNGJessie hears footsteps in the hall. She thinks she's being rescued.

gerald17.PNGUh, no. Not a rescuer. Just a hungry dog.

"Masters Of Horror" was an anthology series in which various directors known for their work in the genre directed (and in some cases wrote) a one hour horror movie for Showtime. The first episode aired in 2005.

Takashi Miike's "Imprint" was to be the thirteenth episode but was considered too graphic, and was not aired on Showtime. It was released as part of a DVD in 2006.

In this scene, Komomo (Michie), a prostitute, has been accused by the Madam of the brothel of stealing her jade ring. Komomo denies it and is tortured.

The story is based on a novel by Shimako Iwai, who plays the torturer, and IHMO, does an incredible job. Her expressions change from overwhelming compassion, to profound admiration, to crazed lust as she tortures Komomo. This is one sick puppy.

She begins by burning Komomo's armpits with incense sticks.

imprint1.PNGimprint18.PNGimprint2.PNGimprint4.PNGimprint5.PNGimprint3.PNG

When that doesn't get Komomo to reveal where she's hidden the jade ring (which she can't, because she didn't take it,) the torturer resorts to. . . (see next post)
