...according to longstanding good tradition, she would not get to see the groom before the Ceremony.

Her trust was complete though, that they had chosen the best possible match for her.

A pairing that would greatly increase the honor and reputation of the Family...

Well you have to admit she does have a particularly impressive pair. Of glasses.

This lady is completely lacking spectacles, but she succeeds in making a spectacle of herself.

Very distracting for the officiating minister/registrar/celebrant, I would think.

Kind of never understood the enslave your own wife fantasy (isn't that is what owning slave girls is for?) but totally get kidnapping your enemy's wife on his wedding day and enslaving HER.
