I almost half expected the story to end with Barton's facial skin hanging on the cactus, or something similar for a closure

Anyway, a great story from start to finish and I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks much!

I prefer a bittersweet ending. The potential for Pig to get his just desserts is there and obvious, but with the focus on Lyla's pain and what she's gone through.

Oh, it was mostly because of Louisa that I fancied that alternate ending. She was introduced late in the story so I thought it may make her character more meaningful if it was hinted that she helped Lyla exact her revenge.

But again, I enjoyed the story much as it is and I also love a bittersweet ending
