In the Arena
It was early, but the crowds would soon be arriving. We were to be crucified on the arena wall at noon.
As criminals would die this day without honor we were strapped to poles at the gate, our tunics dropped to the ground and signs proclaiming our l crimes were hung from our necks. There helpless, naked but for the small loincloths, in our shame we would be ridiculed by the passing crowd.
A cheer went up from the crowd, the games were beginning. At noon we were to be the show. The sun rose steadily as the first two spectacles got underway, both battles between seasoned gladiators. The executions would be next.
It seemed too soon when they came for us. We were untied and between two strong guards one taking each of our arms we were led to the holding area, where we would be greeted by the arena handlers. They would make as much sport of us as they could to please the crowd.. In the end though they would carry out the sentence and we would writhe naked on the arena wall.
