I think you hit a good nail there, Messa -​
I love the male body, and am happy to see men on crosses,​
but on the whole, they do tend to hang there like sacks of potatoes,​
the female body seems to respond to being crucified more gracefully -​
but Modesto's pic is an exception, truly beautiful!​

Absolutely, I refer you to my comment up thread about women and grace. Men need to accentuate their strength on the cross, and that best comes with suspension.
Of course, some of us hang like sacks of potatoes because we look like we've eaten sacks of potatoes!
 
When it comes to crux I caste a wide net, but when it comes to the crunch some form of suspension is the real deal, and the purist cruxer in me says I want tension showing in that body and limbs. At the cost of being a bit stereotyped, women are grace, men are strength, and the crucified male body needs those muscles to show at their best. I ask the same of myself.
