I hate to bring this up but 'The Dark Spot' has been down for several days. I believe we should open an interrogation investigation of Ms. Barbara Moore to see if she should be executed is involved in anyway...

Tree

Perhaps she's the techie I've been dealing with at the hosting site... Lemme go grab a rope, we've got some mesquite trees nearby that are just perfect for a lynching... er, I mean interrogation!

There must be something in the idea that females have a love
for horses, i watched the racing yesterday Cheltenham Gold Cup,
and it was girls parading the horses, leading them in, even riding
them, and lot`s of lady owners, i must take a closer look at this.

Do I really want to go down that lane??? I don't think I want to know what's really going on in that kinky mind of yours, Dorothy...

Yes, Catherine the Great of Russia really liked horses too, so the legend goes!

Doesn't her legend state that she was killed when the horse they were hoisting above her bed got loose and fell down on top of her? It's odd enough that it wouldn't surprise me if it was indeed true... !!!

I think there are several different versions of the horse legend. I was told by one of my college history professors that she was crushed when the harness that held up the stallion she was having sex with broke. That was way before the Internet, so it wasn't all that easy to research. I never could work out the Russian engineering that designing that rig might have involved, but sounds like their stress analysis was off, probably got their calculations mixed up between imperial and metric units or something. "No Sergei, I said four-inch straps, not four centimeters!" I wonder how you say "oops" in Russian?

There were other legends where she died when her toilet seat broke and dumped her on the floor, maybe others too. They didn't have Pravda back then to publish the facts, so all your average Ivan knew for sure was that the empress had died, somehow.

Catherine the Great died of a stroke at the age of 67. She was apparently on the toilet - more likely a chamber pot chair; it was 1796 - when she collapsed, not the toilet. Her Scottish physician diagnosed her as having a stroke. She lapsed into a coma and died - in bed - the next day. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death.
The horse story started soon after her death. She may have had a number of lovers, but all of them had two legs.

I would have hanged her if I was around then...

Ok, so I am no Sir Walter Raleigh...

Damn, that's a rather mundane way to go. I like the more risque' version... LOL!

Or... that would be an embarrassing way to go... imagine trying to tell your fellow ghosts how you died... "I was on a chamber-pot..." I think in that case, I personally would take the horse legend!

People who died on the toilet or at least in the bathroom:
Elvis Presley
Judy Garland
Lenny Bruce
King George II of England
Christopher Shale, Tory politician
Evelyn Waugh
Don Simpson, Hollywood producer
King Wenceslaus III of Bohemia (not the guy from the song). Actually, murdered while on the toilet.

And, my favorite: Michael Anderson Godwin. Sentenced to die in the South Carolina electric chair in 1983, his sentence was later commuted to life. He died of accidental electrocution while sitting on a metal toilet.

BTW: I see that TDS is back up. Thanks, EC.

My younger son - not all that young any more at almost 50 - and I were talking about that very thing earlier this evening. The idea that you ended up dying some really dumb way and every time someone in the afterlife asked you how you died, you'd have to have them laugh about it and doing that for all eternity.

...'I died from a broken blood vessel while I was trying to take a dump... Who knew (besides everyone here) my brain was connected to my ass???

He may not have died there (well maybe he did), but I once read that Lyndon Johnson used to conduct business as President while sitting there.

Most of the bills he saw were less intelligent than what he flushed (and Tree closer to being a Republican- if they know who they are)

Good day all wherever you are....
