Here’s a brief detour featuring a mostly naked, really cut crucified dude. No, not Jesus, but Prince Valiant.

I’ve wondered in recent years if the unquestionably great Hal Foster had a thing for homoerotic BDSM. Whatever the case, here Val is unquestionably gnashing.

I think those old time illustrators got away with quite a lot. I remember young people's books when I was growing up that showed quite a lot of "innocent" flesh in the illustrated stories, in hindsight there was more than a hint of the homo erotic about them. And then those books and TV shows that enjoyed semi clad ladies in peril. A lot flew just under the radar.

To indulge is stereotyping, wasn't Robert E Howard of Conan fame a bodybuilding fan who lived with his mother?

You should see the shit they sold in Spain !! I came across some VERY perverse BDSM comics whilst on holiday some 20-odd years ago !! Whew that stuff was intense !! And it was on public display !!

I never bothered to research Howard's life, and am now disquieted I did.
