Human Sexuality In Modern Society

Not much to post but why oh why does our Western society accept so much fear and violence,TV,Video games etc.. but then fear Sex so much ,let alone BDSM;
disparagingly calling it at best soft porn and mostly 'pornography'.?

I find that BDSM is shared between like minded people and with care, even pain can be administered with a certain love;and the rile play and fetish gear can be great fun and is highly creative.I know that there are from time to time the awful 'Fred West's of this world who violate everything we believe BDSM to be,that physical and sensual experience that excites the endorphins of the skin,an almost 'third' sexual experience beyond straight and gay.

Anyway why so much the fear about sex and yet allow the endless shoot them up violent video games?! Just a thought!

Sex... DOESN'T sell. Well, not as well as guns, ammo, Guns & ammo, video games, magazines about video games, war, war-porn *cough* (History Channel), millennia of conquest, new and exciting violations of human rights - did you know the U.S. military routinely uses U.S. artists' music for the purposes of torture? ...ironic that ; ) - sunglasses sold to kids who think they are "Neo", shot glasses sold to fans of Die Hard.

Sex sells, just not that well in our culture. It sells great! We have conventions, trade shows, and of course the internet booming with a constant shock blast of pornography. But the culture of the permanent adolescent accepts it as private. The culture of the permanent adolescent accepts it as numb. So sex gets internalized in the U.S. because we can have it all, but have it in private. We can access grotesque orgies, but we must do so and not tell anyone at work the next day less they buy it - taking a part of YOU for who you are - and rob us of our value.

What do we value?

You are unique, like a snowflake. And like a snowflake you are fragile. You must either join the masses and together form a solid block of truly unique snowflakes! or, you may flutter and fly away and be weird and shit.

That's why we can't have nice things in the U.S.: we trivialize individuality and homogenize everybody into banality.

The lovely form of skin pulled tight over the ribcage, the feel of a feather breeze on bare feet suspended, and the exotic URGE to breath and fuck and love and hate and live and laugh and cry that one would experience in sex or on the cross can be shared and feel felt by everyone.

But not if you're sold into a never-ending sex-trade of the false-perfect ones.

; )

Entirely agree with you and it's my practice;)

M you write so well and put it as it is,yes there is a physical joy between sex between two caring people,of whatever sex,and in the joy of BDSM,an extended form of vanilla sex,of sensual deprivation and sexual excitement, before and during the scene, the wonderful anticipation.I remember doing an Introduction to Tantra weekend,it was not of course BDSM,but being blindfolfded before, the anticipation was immense and joyful. The human body is a wonderful thing, and so is the joy of being touched, whipped even, the buzzing endorphins! I believe that it enables us to learn.to experience and to grow, may be we are tunes that way but for us it does. I would love to get my bare feet tickled while suspended!

America does seem very two faced about sex, even supposedly or really shocked by it.I remember a friend of my wife's taking her 16 year old to see the Louvre and art museums in Paris, and both saying how shocked by what they saw!Even if it was world famous Renaissance painting and fabulous 19th century French paintings! I noticed that on Pinterest the rules say no nudity, there is plenty much posted by us Europeans I imagine, but the comments oh the comments, fulls of OMGs! I don't believe they are as innocent as they make out though, some yes but most no!

That has been my contention all along. From a very young age feeling the excitement I felt when I saw the crucifix, I would look around, and thus start searching for years and years now and wonder why nobody talks about it. Now, obviously such simple shyness comes into play. It's not that people are being completely corrupt by ignoring it. They just can't deal with it. But there is always a danger, in this as in many things, in masking the true form of one's thoughts and desires. So in searching I learned a valuable lesson from punk rock: if society tells you to be dishonest, then you tell society to go fuck itself.

enjoy

There's another angle to this: if I could show you all my crucified body, I would jump at the chance. In doing so I'd be comforted that some of you might adore it, some might hate it, but at least you'd all be willing to see it. In dealing with such profound social and psychological issues which arise from the disconnect between the sensual power from seeing a crucified person to the moral power injected into the religious image of the a sacred and profane. You need a WILLING MIND to see this in any other light. And that is the most difficult thing to come by.

but, what happens in your real life? You are obliged to follow some of required rules of the society...(work, to be independant...etc..)
For me, I 'm actually student to prepare my future job; that don't forbid to practice BDSM for my fantazy, and ,yes, in that, I'm not adhering into the " only though ", into the "sexe's standard" of the society; I think that it's possible to conciliate both...;)

Messaline, I only said to go with a "fuck off" mentality if social norms interfere with the honest and real you. Now, you choose to function as a member of society and your local culture, so that becomes you too. Obviously, I work the same way, otherwise I couldn't afford this computer and the internet service etc. In fact, I try to be as compassionate and altruistic as possible with society in general. I practice a non-religious form of self-identified spirituality that I called "solar jin" when meditating really high one day. Solar jin means energetic compassion, jin is a Japanese word for compassion. The energy you put into others sustains and reciprocates inside you, because it takes strength, patience, and did I say a whole lot of strength? to not merely put up with people but to always offer support and compassion. It's difficult to be that way, which in turn makes me / whoever stronger.

Yes, I think it'ld do...But why do you go into this site? It could be difficult for you to see some threads and to explain how some women can be showed crucified, whipped, tortured... (like me).
I can say that for me it's fantazy: In my real life, I should not have what I search here, obviously! It's for me a realize to have some fantazy ...
But, for that, I'm obliged to accept playing with others members , even if sometimes it's a little difficult because I can to be carried to stories wich I can't
check...;)

:D

It's all fantasy Messaline. And... just because I aim towards an ideal of "solar jin" doesn't mean I ignore all of the horrible, painful, difficult parts of this and everyday life. To the contrary, I embrace them all the more. I used to read a lot of Crowley. Around that time it occurred to me to try to function in "always maximum." Life is a given, let's see what happens when we push the envelope. Tool fans should know what I'm talking about.

I've just seen Wikipédia about Crowley and I think that I'm beginning to understand what you means: it'll be interresting to deepen that...
Now, I'm obliged to go sleeping if I want to be able tomorow...
Those ideas are worthy to study....;)

I wanted also say that we can't see the vidéo....;)

Oh odd. You can look it up. It was the song "Society" by the American punk rock band Pennywise. I remember sitting on a school bus when I was young, and a neighbor, a girl from down the street who I admired and adored, she let me listen to 10 seconds of her punk rock mixtape. Stuff like Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rancid, and more. And I felt it resonate in my heart quickened pulse, and I never stopped listening.

I am off to read more on Aleister Crowley'shilosophy of Thelema
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelema. One Wiccan precept, probably from Gerald Gardner, that I go with is 'do unto others as you would have done to yourself',or don't do to others what you would not have done to yourself.I am mostly into fantasy but part of me wants to play BDSM with others as a mature human being, but it must be done with care and an experience that transforms and from which everyone gains.I crave the physical expereience to me fantasy on its own is not enough. On the fantasy level it has to be something that resonates with the inner senses of the mind, endless photographs of pretty Eastern European girls nakes on crosses does not do it for me,there has to be some level of physical experience, straining on the cross does.

Edexl, it's the golden rule. Use it always.

Crowley's Liber AL vel Legis

A. Your Duty to Self: describes the self as the center of the universe, with a call to learn about one's inner nature. ...... to develop every faculty in a balanced way, establish one's autonomy, and to devote oneself to the service of one's own True Will.

Yes it's a rule that I must follow.I fight against it,so many notions in my head tell me no,it makes me a frustrated fantasist rather than to follow my calling to BDSM,to comit my self to it fully,to allow myself to follow my deep inner desires.

Changing the subject for a moment:Sex Toys.

Did anyone watch the programme on UK TV last night on the growing market in Sex Toys, all part of the recession, staying in,relying on super markets and in d0or entertainment in the bedroom! It was about a good UK company Lovehoney who have bought the Coco de Mer shop for a retail spot in central London. I do think a lot of love aids can be a bit tacky, like novelty goods, but the rabbit and other aids are getting better and better.

There was an article in last weeks Sunday Times - "Sex toy boom has mummies buzzing",which was largely about Lovehoney. But amusingly they had statistics about which towns spent the most on sex toys per head,The top was Fleet in Hampshire with Didcot, Godalming and Basingstoke following on the amount of money spent, but the fifth in the rank was Aberystwth! I wonder why do they have nothing better to do there in cold wet west Wales!?

I've never been to the UK so I'm not familiar with any of those cities (I am part Welsh though, maybe my ancestors came from Aberystwt). But, I'm wondering if any of them can hold a candle to the Smuttiest City in America, which is...drum roll, please...Orlando, Florida!!!

One of the criterea was number of adult stores.
My home town finished #8, well ahead of Miami! We are so proud! And, this could explain why we're hosting the Republican Convention in August.:D
