Imprisonment and Execution in Modern Singapore Part III of Barb's Singapore Saga

Praefectus Praetorio

R.I.P. Brother of the Quill
Having married a previously divorced woman, and now being divorced from her and single, I have come to appreciate the wisdom of Samuel Johnson and Oscar Wilde. In The Life of Samuel Johnson, 1791, the Scottish scribbler, James Boswell, quotes Johnson, on hearing that a man had remarried soon after the death of a wife to whom he had been unhappily married,

“The triumph of hope over experience”

Oscar Wilde expanded this in one of his humorous epigrams,

“Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience”

Despite these invaluable warnings of the disaster to follow from re-undertaking a project that has previously fallen far short of expectations, I take pen in hand (editor: what is a pen?) I take keyboard in hand and assay to scribble yet another continuation of Barbara’s tragic saga in Singapore. Let the incautious readers be warned, this will be as cheap, prurient, vulgar, unjust, and all-around ridiculous as its justly mocked predecessors. To add additional insult to your intelligence, I initiate this posting with only a small part composed (and that rather badly), and no clear idea of all the misfortunes that will surely be heaped upon our undeserving heroine. Therefore, be prepared for lapses in posting; perhaps even long periods of no communication at all. The possible saving grace of this intermittent prospect is that it will give the readers the opportunity to rethink their foolhardy decision to read any of this drivel.

That being said, abandon hope, all ye who read further!

You are setting the bar high for yourself there, PrPr.......

Or ... “Reading This Shall Set You Free” ;):p
It's not going to set you free, Barb.........

Per ardua ad Minnesota? Unlikely, under the circumstances.

I do love the opportunity to paraphrase great quotes when they fit perfectly. From An Essay on Man (1734) by Alexander Pope:

Hope springs eternal in Barbara's Magnificent Breasts

Even when nicely beaten!

“But I, imprisoned, have only my dreams;

I have spread my dreams under your feet;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”

W.B. Yeats
Well done, Barbara. However, I fear that far more than your dreams will be trodden on in this story, and most painfully at that!

YOU don't know about this story without you have read books by the names of Crime and Punishment in Modern Singapore and Capital Punishment in Modern Singapore; but that ain't no matter. Thems books were made by Mr. Praefectus Praetorio. And I musta say that he is one gully fine writer. Yes, I knows, most writers are all hat and no cattle, but not Mr. Praetorio. In fact, he might could be the bestest writer there ever was.

You kin read this book and enjoy it, ‘cause Mr. Praetorio is a great writer. But I knows that you’ll figure out what’s happening the better if yous read them first.

Author’s Preface

As the learned gentleman above says, you will do best by first reading the two earlier parts of the Singapore Saga. Recapitulation

Our story resumes directly after the end of Part II, March 25th, 2019. A quick summary of the saga to date:

Twenty-six days ago, on February 28th, on the last day of her vacation in Singapore, Barbara had been arrested for gum-chewing. Through her own bad judgment, she had received a jail caning for theft, a vicious prison punishment of 22 strokes with a heavy cane for her original crimes and disrespect for the court, and then another jail caning for a false charge of drug possession. In so doing she managed to instill a dislike combined with a lust for her in some of the most powerful people in the Republic.

Then, sixteen days ago, on March 9th, she had been involved in an altercation and the accidental death of her cellmate, Rose Lin. Circumstantial evidence pointed to her intentionally killing Rose. Those powerful interests in Singapore that I mentioned above, led by the highly respected judge, Rut Betar-Gisber (whom Barb on several occasions had grossly insulted), conspired to ensure her charging and conviction on first-degree murder.

While awaiting trial, she was casually raped by two jail staff, viciously beaten with truncheons by two jail guards, given another caning upon commitment to Changi Prison, and subsequently brutally gang-raped by seven guards, also abused and molested on several occasions and finally caned again.

At her trial today, she was convicted on all counts with enhanced circumstances. The three-judge panel, headed by Betar-Gisber, sentenced her to 40 strokes of the cane and death by impalement/hanging (pending appeal). Taken from the courtroom immediately, she was transported to Changi Prison.

A very neat and precise summation PrPr !

Glad you’ve kept an accounting of all that abuse! Taking notes and filing a formal complaint as soon as I arrive at Changi, assuming that they allow me access to pen and paper or a computer with Internet. Let’s see, how to begin? Ah, yes: “Dear President D.J. Tru ...”
