Meanwhile, the "geniuses" in the Flori-duh (I can say that, I live here) legislature have voted to stay on daylight savings time year round.

Personally, I am opposed to this for two reasons: First, it would mean that from October to March we would be out of sync with the rest of the US and essentially in the same time zone as the Canadian Maritimes and the central part of South America. Second, if Congress approves, it would open the door for every state to set its own time zone and make a mess of everything.

The whole concept of daylight savings time is absurd. It's based on the idea that somehow it makes the day longer. This could only be accomplished by slowing down the Earth's rotation. But, that's exactly what the sponsors of the bill claimed.
