Odds And Ends And Anything You Fancy

Thinking of you seeing the news of all the flooding down your way, Ted -
I don't know exactly where you are, but I think among CF active members
you're one of the closest to the areas badly hit by Storm Dennis,
so it's good to see you're high and (relatively) dry!

Thank You Eul ...
Yes, I am very fortunate ... due to Wales being lumpy ... two of the worst hit residential areas are only a couple of miles away ...
Not a very wealthy area so quite a few will not have insurance and those that do will face huge premiums in future ...

New Batgirl movie looks good!

Aye, like in the Scottish Borders and the Pennines,
it's in the narrow valleys between the lumpy bits that the water gets funnelled down,
and it's in those valleys the old industrial towns were built.
Cadwch yn dda, Ted!

Diolch yn fawr ... Eul ...
Smack on ... those houses with the floating cars were originally miners dwellings from the nearby Nantgarw Colliery
... and yes I am ancient enough to remember it working ... Don't know if you saw the black slurry avalanche at Tylorstown
it took me back 54 years to Aberfan and a tear was shed ...

Getting back to ladies saving on work clothes.

I used to follow Alison Bechdel's comic strip Dykes To Watch Out For, a collection of which featured a self portrait of her outside her Vermont cabin chopping wood in the nude. I am also hopelessly and foolishly in lust with her, so I decided to look for pictures of naked women chopping wood.

Turns out there's lots.

Winter Woes
Two bad storms in a week ... first one blew a tree down (on a neighbours fence) cost me £300 to remove it.
Today we have high winds and a months rain in two days ... luckily I'm on a hill but lower roads and premises
are badly flooded ... but even in the face of adversity we can still have a wry sense of humour ...
This shows the main bar of a local pub (note the sign) ... !!!

The positioning of the sign is typical British humour.

Actually, fumetti is Italian for 'little puffs of smoke' - the speech bubbles.
Yes I’ve heard english-speaking cartoonists use the word like that. Also “briffets” are the little dust puffs they often draw next to running feet, and “squeans” are the little bubbles and stars that circle around a character’s head to signify concussion or drunkenness.

yeah, fumetti is the Italian for comics, and fumetti are literally the little puffs of smoke, namely the speech bubbles. You are both great! :)

Ahhh, once again CF demonstrates its educational value!!!
