I can see the resemblance and can understand why they might assume it is Bettie. However, although it's hard to tell with the first two, I think the shape of the nose and width of the mouth in the third pic are a bit off the mark.

You caught that. But Messaline is how the French spell Messalina, which suggests that the lithograph is of French origin. Meaning that the model is quite possibly our Messaline's ancestor, after whom she does not take.

The might be real. The people of the XVIII century were not as sexually oppressed as they became in the XIX. Playful sexual references would not have raised many eyebrows.
One of the most famous artist of the time was Jean Honore' Fragonard. Some of his most popular works featured women in poses that are not unlike later works by pin-up artist like Vaargas.

His most famous work is "The Swing" ("L'escarpolette").
