As a rebel slave, the young Germanic woman was condemned to be whipped before being nailed to a cross.

I love this one, it's exactly my favourite fantasy -
to be whipped naked like that in the Arena in front of a cheering, jeering crowd,
given a night in a dungeon to recover
(though the guards can do whatever they want with me
while I'm there), then out before dawn to carry my crossbar
to the Place of Execution - grrrrrrrrrrrrr, I get so wet thinking of it!

(a tip Michele - best not to use light coloured fonts for text here,
some of us use the Default white background, and can't see them -
I've changed yours to a deeper colour that shows up on both backgrounds)
