If Orange Man Bad antics and insulting my country are your way of apologizing, I'd hate to see you actually being malicious.

That said, you have no reason to apologize. You have opinions and conspiracy theories, and I think you're hysterical and wrong. So it goes.

The same talking heads now waving their cocks over Trump's pandemic track record were singing the praises of their lord and savior, Obama, when it took him 4.5 months and 1000 American deaths to declare an H1N1 emergency in 2009.

Anything Trump does, whether foolish or brilliant, will be attacked mercilessly by the political left and establishment media, because none of this is actually about coronavirus or human lives. It's about political power, and a festering hatred for one bombastic old dude who has some.

Dear Servus Venandi:

As far as I can remember myself, there are only two possibilities: Either I am suddenly suffering from partial amnesia or you seem to be very thin-skinned.

1. Please tell me exactly where I here ever insulted your country and I will withdraw and retract from that statement, claiming the opposite of that statement and apologizing to everyone here for it.
I think you will never and nowhere find such a statement from me.
Maybe, you did not remark that I never mentioned if I have any preferences for a certain party in the USA.
I only told my opinion about certain persons, never about the politics inside any country. You may find it unbelievable but there were Presidents from both big parties in the USA's history which I admired.

2. Please tell me the "conspiracy theory" of which I might be a supporter or protagonist and I will check it out by all scientific means which I might have learned at the German universities of Cologne, Mainz and Trier.

Thank you very much in advance!

Sincerely,

Silent_Water

But back to interesting news: For the first time, I have heard about a symptom of the coronavirus I have nowhere heard before:
In this German article ...

... one of the leading German virologues mentions that about 60 % of all German infected patients told the doctors that they suddenly had problems to smell and taste. Some woke up and suddenly, they did no more smell their shampoo when they took their morning shower in the bath. Others did not really taste their meals as usual and this happened already before this virus made them so ill with fever or sore throats that they thought they are really ill now by another infection or a influenza.

Interesting detail, I think.

By the way, concerning Science Fiction and "Hysteria". Do you remember these movies?

... and ...

... with their empty street scenes?

Who of us would ever have predicted, that during our lifetime, the world could look similar IN REALITY ?

Pictures from the most seen German TV news "Tagesschau" of today and yesterday:

and the most unusual German press conference ever:

And possibly, we should not take such reports into account because someone said, CNN is "fake news", or am I wrong? :

Dear Servus Venandi:
...

Sorry, I could have sworn you wrote, "...a completely torn superpower in a cold civil war in its own with a government that obviously does not know any more anything about reliability in international relations, truth in the speeches of its politicians and wisdom at all." I also seem to recall you further asserting that coronavirus will be worse in the U.S., because market bad, socialism good, or some such nonsense. Maybe I should have said "denigrate" instead of "insult," but this is the basic thrust of a few posts, and you know it.

Do you have actual evidence of the Trump administration lying about infection numbers, and conspiring to withhold medical science from the rest of the world? No? Then why did you bring it up, but failed to include key details like offers going out to over two dozen companies not named CureVac? Perhaps because the propaganda doesn't sound as good in full context. It seldom does.

Thank you very much in advance!

Sincerely,

Silent_Water

Have fun in your thread. It's like a Gish gallop for politics.

Unfortunately, I am afraid I am now really on the brink of becoming a bit sarcastic and possibly even angry and I hope we all do not really want to see me really angry ...

:icon_writing:

Concerning ...

1. ... "torn superpower in a cold civil war": What does it look like for you when your president holds a speech and someone behind him tears the script apart?
2. "... does not know anything any more about reliability in international relations ,,," What does it look like for you, when your president orders the withdrawal of troops from allies like the Kurds in the war against these religious madmen from ISIS, although the Kurds have lost much more soldiers and were always the most reliable allies of Western troops in the fighting there?
3. ... "wisdom" Really: Tell me a convincing example of wisdom from the speeches of Donald Trump!

4. You are obviously willingly misunderstanding my posts about socialism and market or you did not really read any of my postings. Really: How can you believe, I would say something in favour of socialism concerning the coronavirus, when I write on the same scrolling page, my parents were born in COMMUNIST Romania? Are you malicious yourself or do you not know any difference between political systems? Or is liberalism, social democracy, socialism and communism the same for you?

In my case, you are obviously mixing everything that you do not like just in order to discredit someone you are not absolutely according to -
AND YOU YOURSELF KNOW THIS OBVIOUSLY !

Concerning the reliability of the Trump administration, what about this site? :

Concerning the reliability of talking about infection numbers, what about these comments? :

It would be much easier for me and in interest of our readers here if you simply admit that you are angry about me because I probably said something unfriendly about your half-god Donald Trump and you cannot pray any more peacefully contemplative in front of your Donald-Trump-Altar because you have met this heretic "Silent_Water" who endangers the purity of the Trumpism-Ideology-Pseudo-Religion which might lead to make Trump-believers fall from faith.
So, this heretic "Silent_Water" has to be attacked by you like these people around Trotsky were attacked by truely believing Stalinists because the Trotskyists endangered the purity of this pseudo-religion of Stalinism, correct?
Or am I for you rather someone like a witch who has to be burned at the stakes because I endangered Trumpism like I endangered Catholicism because I am a protestant?

Tell us more clearly what I am for you, please!

Thank you, MIng, for this clarification.

I always liked to think about persons in unusual situations in society which are surrounded by darkness and Sean Connery made some movies about such situations which I did not fully understand when I was younger and watching these movies. In fact, I do not understand them fully today..

For example:

I am still wondering today how the hero Sean Connery can fight like Gary Cooper in "High Noon" after visiting this bar. Is the background not terribly distractive for a man who will soon fight for his life against criminals? :
Ashampoo_Snap_2020.02.27_21h59m36s_001__ji.jpg Ashampoo_Snap_2020.02.27_22h00m47s_002__ji.jpg Ashampoo_Snap_2020.02.27_22h02m35s_003__ji.jpg Ashampoo_Snap_2020.02.27_22h03m45s_004__ji.jpg Ashampoo_Snap_2020.02.27_22h04m09s_005__ji.jpg

Could you really visit such a sci-fi-bar and then go on fighting for your life?

And there are other movies with Sean Connery with similar serious questions concerning reality:

Did you ever get up in the morning, watch yourself in the mirror, look like this and watch smiling the TV-screen on the right side of the picture with world news?
This is really Science Fiction! :

I still can not really understand how this coronavirus affects nations. When I look at the latest time table from this site right now
it is hard to believe that Germany has not one single case of death up to now and I would really like to know what exactly is the reason.

View attachment 832184

But on the other hand, especially in my case, I should better not ask because I always want to know too much.

Once, one of my French girlfriends told me, I sometimes remind her of a French joke because I seem to be a similar person like the count or earl in this French joke about Germans:

"During the French revolution, all noblemen and also those from all neighboring countries were in danger to be executed because they were regarded as enemies of the poor people or as spies from the other countries. So, a French, an English and a German nobleman were brought to the guillotine.
When it was the French count to be executed, the blade got stuck in the center of the guillotine and the executioner said: "This is probably the will of God and so you can go free into exile now."
The French count: "Oh wonderful, my family does not expect me to come back anyway, so I can still visit my mistress before I go into exile!"
Then the English count is to be executed and again, the blade got stuck. The executioner said: "This obviously is again the will of God and so you can go home to England and better, you never come back!"
The English count said: "Very well, when my horse is fast, I might be back in England right in time for the English five o'clock tea!"
Then, the German count is to be executed but he goes straight to the French executioner and asks:
"Are you all a bit silly here? Why don't you see that this guillotine is out of order and has to be repaired?!!" "

(Hm, the French seem to know us Germans very well ...)

Now, I can most probably answer my own question, which may interest the other readers:

1. There is a difference in counting in Europe because German doctors do not make coronavirus-tests with dead persons, for example if an old person died lonely, no relatives were to be found who want to know the cause of death or if the person was known to have had an illness before. Doctors in Germany say, even if you have a dead person who had for example an influenza this winter, is 85 years old, had age-related problems with the heart and during the last days probably an infection with the coronavirus - how will you be absolutely sure what was the exact reason for his death? In Italy, this is a statistical case of death by the coronavirus because the positive virus-test of the dead body is regarded as case of Coronavirus-death, in Germany not.

2. The European countries with the lowest death rates in all statistics like this one (blue rectangles) ...

Ashampoo_Snap_2020.03.18_20h35m40s_001a_.jpg

... up to now all claim that their numbers are correct and this is probably really true because these countries (plus Sweden) are also the richest in average comparison of national income, tax rates for public healthcare and certainly they are also those with the most hospitals with medical stations for intensive care of people with respiratory problems, equipped with relativly many of breathing apparatuses and similar devices. The coronavirus death rates may also explode in these countries, when there will be more coronavirus-patients than intensive care places, which is up to now not the case - but soon it will be. So the death rates will probably reach the average numbers everywhere.
Additionally, these countries are having the best and fastest test methods for identifying the coronavirus.

I come to this site for the inticing bdsm sexual stimulation . That being said, I, being a sheltered, nieve elderly lady learn so much about the world through the observations of you, the ones living in it. We Americans are so often single minded and unaware that Europeans may see things in a different perspective. Thank you for your incite.

You are very welcome and thank you for your comment very much!
As I may have mentioned some times before, Europe is for me the most interesting and exciting part of the world. I had the best times of my life when I was at the relatively small University of Trier, studying together with students from many other European countries and the very best of all times in my life were our international meetings with having fun by making jokes on a high level about the national prejudices each nation had against some others, similar to the joke some postings before about the German count complaining about the guillotine what was not working for him.
People who did never had such experiences can probably not understand how fantastic and enriching it can be to meet people with different languages and cultural backgrounds like it can be in Europe. The best evening of my life was a student's meeting with a Monopoly game and about 10 players, 4 of them beautiful female students, from Germany, Italy, Hungary, Romania, France and Great Britain talking and cursing during the game in every language you can imagine. It was the perfect chaos with the most respectful and funny people I have ever met although everyone was at the same time trying to cheat each other in the Monopoly game as much as possible with such incredible sentences I still remember almost 30 years later:
- "If you sell me these two expensive streets, I'll give you two others for free!"
- "But you do not own these streets at all!"
- "Not yet, but in about 10 minutes!"
- "You are like a crazy carpet trader's son from the Balkans!"
- "No, I am in this game a clever businessman from Germany right now!"
- "What should the Germans here think of us?"
- The French student: "Hey, you both, stop your typical East-European exaggerating and insulting yourself! I am a French high class lady and I am here the only one to look down at everybody else like you because of my extremely rich cultural heritage!"
- "Shut up, French high class girl, and go into your rich cultural heritage Monopoly prison as you have cast the dice for this prison before!"

Aaha! As I say: This was the best evening with the nicest French girl of my life and the reason why I love Europe as this friendly combination of so many different nations united in a peaceful union more than every other region of this world!

So, today, I am really sad that these wonderful times of around 1989-1994 after the fall of the Berlin wall with all Central-European borders opened seem to be over now for some time, because of this coronavirus.
I still can hardly believe what is happening right now and the news from Italy are becoming worse every day.
I sometimes ask myself if there are some other reasons in Italy for so many deaths by the coronavirus there. Maybe, it is really because the Italians are a friendlier nation with more huggings and physical contact in their families than other European nations and then, this virus would be really fiendish to hit such a familiar nation so hard. In Northern-Italian regions like Lombardy or around Bergamo, there really seem to be complete old people's homes wiped out within two weeks by coronavirus-deaths and the worst for the relatives there is that they cannot go to the burials because of the lock-downs there. The poor old ones there were dying alone and being buried alone.
It is really a desaster there as no one could have imagined only one month ago.

I feel the same way about Europe and the same way about the virus.. UK is about to lock down I think, maybe in two or three days. Going to spend tomorrow trying to gather what I need. Feels like a bad sci fi dystopia.. brotherly greetings to all who are facing the same thing!

This morning, the news from Italy are worse than I ever expected them to be and these news gave me the shivers.
During the last 24 hours more people died in Italy because of the coronavirus than ever died in China during one day and the Italian army sent 70 ( ! ) military transporters to Bergamo to take the dead bodies to be burned in crematoriums in other Italian cities which are not yet overloaded.
It is terrible !

Some more quotations about the coronavirus:

Comment by a reader in a German newspaper about doing too few in preventing infections in the societies of the world:

"The best weapons of mankind for the future are the human mind and common sense ... unfortunately, concerning these weapons, many, many human beings seem to be completely unarmed!"

Example according to this source:

Yesterday evening in Iran, an Iranian female doctor and scientific journalist displayed on Iranian state TV three (possibly deliberately - but who knows?) shocking-looking scenarios for the future in Iran:

1. The best and most unrealistic scenario: The whole nation changes its behaviour at once, tries to be as antiseptic as possible, all risky regions are quarantined and people understand the necessity of rules of hygiene and reducing physical contact.
Result: 120.000 more infected, at least 12.000 cases of death!

2. Medium scenario with partly disciplinated behaviour. Result: 300.000 more infected, 110.000 cases of death.

3. Worst and unfortunatley at this moment most probable scenario in Iran: Total breakdown of the nation's health care system which would even be unable to tell the numbers of newly infected persons, probably 3 point 5 million cases of death -> i.e.: probably 3 500 000 persons dead during the coming 8 months.

Visible reactions to this scientific Iranian TV predictions in Iranian society up to now: None!

Rather the opposite: The day before yesterday, hundreds of very religious people broke open the gates to a holy shrine in the "Holy City of Ghom" because the "Shi'ite Saints" who are buried there are said to be able to heal every illness!

If I met an extraterrestrian alien from outer space, I could only recommend not to land on this planet during the next 150 years or so ...

Good Luck !

And Europe today at its very, very best in the latest news:

The French regional government of the "Département Haut-Rhin" in Alsace-Lorraine near the German border has asked the German government of the federal-state of "Baden-Württemberg", if there are still capacities for French patients who desparately need devices for artificial respiration because there are no more sufficient of them available in the nearest French hospitals.
Germany has the capacities at the moment and the French patients are now flown by French and German medical & military helicopters to German University hospitals in Heidelberg, Freiburg and Ulm.

Such good German-French relations should be an example for the world !

Beats the heck out of two world wars.

Alsace-Lorraine always had "some problems" in history with both France and Germany.
When Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer signed the first treaty of French-German cooperation after WW II, an old man of almost 100 years from Alsace-Lorraine is said to have told them:
"This is very good of you both now and I hope these wars between your both countries are finally over, because for us here it would not really matter which one of them is winning if there were not always so many cities destroyed here. I have survived three of your wars and in the end, Alsace-Lorraine always belonged to the winner who suspected us here of collaboration with the enemy: 1871 this here was "Elsass-Lothringen" and Germany, 1918 and 1945 it was "Alsace-Lorraine" and French. It would be really nice for us here if anyone had ever really asked us where we liked to belong or if we could one day possibly be only the native inhabitants of this region in an United Europe without destruction, because in the meantime, everyone of us here can speak now both of your languages."

Unfortunately, and as it always was, the governments of the world are all having different views and approaches to the coronavirus-crisis:

Probably bad:

Probably worse:

But why not simply making everything probably more different than anybody else? :
