Many many good ones as always so of course it is only possible to make some passing reference to the most excellent.

I like this one for its elegant cruelty, in theory she could get herself off of her knees for a while but the discomfort would be horrendous and the posture too awkward to hold. So she is made to kneel at her cross in a near voluntary or at least complicit act. I also notice in 4/2.20 that some lucky artist snapped our dear Julia practising her passion and 3/2.20 has allowed her clothes but of interestingly revealing nature

Performance Art:​

This is a departure for me - not that much into blood ​

(Though I don't think it's real here)​

This is a kind of performance piece​

(I'm going to cover some more performers in the next few days.)​

As for this girl?​

Seems to making some sort of point,​

I don't expect to see her at Sunday School anytime soon...​

As promised, some Performance Art:​

(Maybe not entertaining, but educational I hope.)​

Marina Abramovic​

The Serbian Artiste is called the ​

'Godmother of Performance Art' with reason.​

​

Among her pieces (MOMA), she sat at a table facing​

any spectator willing to sit opposite and try to out-stare her.​

They were limited to one minute.​

She sat unmoving - no bathroom breaks - for 750 hours.​

​

​

Another is the famous nude man and woman ​

in museum doorway (patrons have to squeeze through).​

​

Another inviting spectators to use any ​

of several items (including a pistol) ​

in any way they chose against her body.​

Here someone whips her with long-stemmed roses.​

​

Another favorite is when she cuts a star in her abdomen​

​

lies down on ice for a few hours​

​

then proceeds to whip herself bloody.​

​

​

(She has been known to lose consciousness.)​

​

Tune in tomorrow for the good stuff.​

These ladies are about as pristine as they come.​

​

(Abramovic's piece is part of a touring exhibition​

UK, NYC, Sydney and was "re-performed" ​

by local dancers and artistes.)​

I don't expect any better than these brave ladies,​

self-crucifixion at that...​

​

No ropes no nails - just a bicycle seat.​

(Yeah? You try it!)​
