Wrist suspension can be shown up as a nasty execution fantasy. Besides being physically hard (arms and wrist are not designed for carrying the body weight - we know all from crucifixion), the condemned risks to suffer from suspension trauma. It is basically the same as what happens when hanging vertically in a safety harness.
"Typical symptoms are pallor, sweating, shortness of breath, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, hypotension and numbness of the legs. Eventually it leads to fainting, which may result in death due to oxygen deprivation of the brain." (source : Wikipedia). Fainting could take place after about 30 minutes hanging.
Interesting stuff for an execution fantasy, I think
(but for obvious safety reasons don't try this at home).
