Tumblr deleting all erotic pictures by the 17th

Go to CruxDreams.com
Whoever made this decision at tumblr is either unaware that they are shattering a relevant part of their community, or they know but don't care.

But I do not see how this should affect the Crux Forums? I agree, tumblr used to be a valuable source for the kind of images we are looking for, especially for people like me who prefer photos over renders. But there are alternatives for that (free ones, too). Give and take a few weeks/months and the people will have moved on to another platform that isn't that restrictive.

Or is there another connection between tumblr and the Crux Forums that I don't see?

This article explains that the decision was made because images involving child abuse were popping up there https://thenextweb.com/socialmedia/2018/12/03/rest-in-peace-tumblr/ Such images are hard for algorithms to detect. Even humans can't reliably tell young from too young. So, I understand it, especially when it pertains to photos as opposed to renders. I don't think there is any link with CF-this site is small enough and our moderators are diligent enough that they can keep track of what is posted. Personally, I would prefer to see CF focus more on original work by members and less on pictures found elsewhere.

Of course, there is another answer-stories are not banned. So you can always read some good ones at Tumblr or here or other sites and let your mind create the images;);)

I can't think of any connection between Tumblr and this site. One of our members, D'Not, is working hard to help reverse their decision. A petition of members has already passed 184,000. Apparently you will be able to post images of male nipples but not female ones unless it is to do with breast feeding or part of a statue or to do with surgery or......any exception thoght up by their barmy committee. Perhaps they are the same people in charge of Brexit negotiations!

That is true. Everyone is aging differently. 16 year olds may look like they are already in their early 20s and many "teens" you find on porn sites are actually in their mid to late 20s. It is close to impossible to create a perfect algorithm when not even people can tell without doubt.

Still, it is a very drastic reaction to a problem that every web site with user generated content is facing. Even YT has this issue.

Update. Over 223 500 members have now signed the petition against the changes.

A petition is good, but I doubt that it will change anything. Just look at the EU and their ridiculous Article 13 (a very restrictive copyright law, that will only benefit the big media companies, won't help the small independent artists at all and might even be abused as a cencorship mechanism against free speech). There is a petition against it that has been signed by almost 4,000,000 people. And yet, the EU parliament is very likely to approve the new law in January anyway.

Well, the good news is: We've still got our kinky parties, play sessions with friends and BDSM events to live out our kink (as shown in my small avatar; I don't like wasting time... yes: That guy on the right cross is me).
Regarding underaged shown on platforms I remember having seen <18 girls in this forum - put in context of crucifixion play; my hint to that was rather downplayed and my notice regarding the source ("family nudism website" - easy for everyone to verify) was absurdly questioned. With such easygoing attitutde it shall be no surprise to see websites restricted or forums shut down one day.

The only potential 'censor' of our site is our service provider, XenForo, very liberal and non-interventionist,
so long as we keep clear of kiddie-porn. That's the one thing we have to be tough on.

And satirical stories about a certain political figure (Individual #1), even when they are very mild compared to what the news reports about him, not to mention what the Special Counsel has to say (and will have to say shortly)...:D:nusee:

An article on Slate about Tumblr's blanket ban on porn.

Spoiler alert: they’re agin' it.

https://slate.com/technology/2018/12/tumblr-porn-should-be-welcomed-not-banned.html

What banning “adult content” will do, however, is eradicate one of the few mainstream, safe, and non-taboo places where people could participate in communities that openly congregate around sex and sexuality. Sex is great, and it’s no wonder that people like to consume sexual images—much of the internet is dedicated to this. Knowing that one could roll onto Tumblr, a very popular social media site, find a blog dedicated to whatever flavor of porn one likes, and look at images that turn one on, made the whole ordeal of seeking sexual imagery less daunting, demeaning, and dangerous.

Here is the reality.

As we (meaning citizens) in our individual countries hand over more and more power and responsibilities to our governments we become less free. Capitalism is the economic system MOST compatible with individual freedom and Communism the least. Political systems are based on the economic systems they embrace (thus for example idiot's delusions aside it is obvious China is NOT a capitalistic system) and as you move left ward economically you give the government more and more power over you and what you can or can not do.

This also leads to attempts to legislate 'morals'. The greatest example of this in western capitalism was Prohibition. The idea that drinking alcohol to excess is bad (which is true) therefore rather than hold individuals to account for their actions we will take away alcohol THEREFORE no one will be able to drink to excess.

And all those who were able to drink responsibly be damned (for full disclosure I don't drink any alcohol).

That didn't work out too well and was reversed.

But for god's sake , who isn't against child porn? Or human trafficking?

So now governments have an excuse to ban certain content (I believe the UK already has in place a ban on anything representing rape) and Tumblr is just trying to get out in front of getting socked right in the chops with government legal actions.

I love you D'Not but you can have 70 million signatures on that petition and it won't do any good.

The fine upstanding folks who are our neighbors won't admit to liking and looking at porn, they don't want to be 'tut-tutted' by their neighbors (who are also looking at porn), so they won't protest. If they try they will be viciously attacked by the self-appointed SJW howling mob (and that is what they are, a mob), especially if they are politicians, business people or leading members of their communities. They will be ruined by innuendo.

So Tumblr will cave, child porn\sex trafficking will move onto the dark web and we will all have a little less freedom while criminal activity continues.

The second you allow the government (or its proxies) to suppress the rights\interests of one group you give them the ability to suppress the rights of all including you.

'When the Nazis came for the Communists, I said nothing. When they came for the Jews, I said nothing, When they came for the other undesirables, I said nothing. When they came for the intellectuals, educators and free thinkers, I said nothing. When they came for me, there was nobody left to speak for me.'

Think its bad now folks? It is only going to get worse until we as a people develop some backbone and agree with Voltaire "I may detest what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it."

I HATE child pornographers and sex traffickers, and if they commit a crime, I'm all for punishing them. But we are perilously close to convicting and punishing people for what they think and feel and say.

And so we a community will be caught up in the backwash.

Is the Forum affected by Tumblr's decision? No.

But could we be shut down some day because the government becomes the morality police and we are deemed immoral?

YOU BETCHA!

And also from Voltaire "So long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men.”

A question, willow ? Is Thumblr warning when there is a porn or violent ... content ?

If yes, I dont see why they are wanting to forbid that ...

Concerning the obscur side of our community , I think that we're in any way already obscur : who knows CF in the world ? ...

I agree that it's not in doing a prohibition that you could prevent any young girl (like I did) to dream in front of the Via'cruxis into the churches ...

All the fantasies have always existed , in all the societies, with all the religions and it's not a banning which could stop that !
And I can add that nobody told me about CF : I found it alone when the needing was so much strong to meet people who were into the same way !
I remember how my heart was knoking when I decided to post my first message here ! But it was a so much great relief that never I could regret !

No law could never stop the fantasy of the human spirit and it's rassuring !!!

Wow.

Willow, there’s one major thing I disagree with in all that. China’s leaders aren’t communists, they're tyrants. They’ve been CINOs (Communists In Name Only) since Deng Xiaoping. They give lip service to Marxist-Leninist dogma, they still keep Mao's unclean cadaver under glass in that mausoleum in Tiananmen Square, where they drowned an unknown multitude of students in blood in 1989, but otherwise their economic system is state sponsored capitalism.

There are other things, but overall you’re spot-on.

What a Rant! And how WONDERFUL! Thank you Willow. Far bigger issues of threat to our freedom than just images on Tumbler or even the existence of CF.

You missed the other great quote, Thomas Jefferson:

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."

That is an oath that we each should take!

The first amendment protects the right of freedom of speech in The USA . As for other countries that right may not be protected .

So true and even Mr. American rights, me, take it for granted. I am astounded when I hear of the political censorship in countries like Canada and Germany. But they do not have that freedom enshrined in their founding documents.

"The Pursuit of Happiness" may be a vague and wishful phrase, but it also expresses the belief that people should be allowed to do and think what they wish as long as it doesn't hurt (non-consensually) others.
