Theseus please lower the resolution on the pictures you post. Many of us don't have and can't get very good internet speeds. You should keep them under 1 MB...

One in original resolution and one with 1600px (long side). See the difference!

The only difference I do notice is when I click to enlarge -
the higher res image is two to three times bigger,
so I can even see into the cells in the background -
that would make it more suitable for a very detailed scene,
but I understand the problem for those with slow internet speeds.

I often start with a high resolution large background that I can crop or reduce, as necessary, after the models or characters are set in the scene.
 
These pictures are meant as backgrounds for manipulators. From my humble experiences I remember that I found it important to have high resolution pictures, especially when I used only a part of the background.
One could post a low res pic for a quick view and a high res to download.
