Hi Folks
I don´t know if this question is been asked before.
What is your personally "most like"? Beeing crucified yourself or stand there and watch how somebody is crucified? Or maybe you like both, beeing victim sometimes and sometimes beeing a spectator.

Me myself I like both. My most favorite is, that I´am crucified, but I also would love to watch how another person is crucified.

oh yes, boath, first watching how another person is crucified, afterwards crucified myself. Or hanging on the cross and watching how another person will be crucified, we shall hang face to face, so we can watch each other, when we are dancing on the cross. Or the crosses are very near and
I can feel the body of the other victim moving up and down. Or our feet are tied together, so the writhing of one person is influenced by the other person...

I am a watcher... after I am done nailing you to the cross and raising it with you riding it...

For my particular writing style, where I try to visualize a crucifixion from all perspectives, I have to try to put myself into the place of the executioners, the onlookers, and the victim. I prefer being in the role of executioner, but I have to imagine what a victim would see and feel too. Being a heterosexual male writing about a female being crucified, that does not come naturally; it takes a lot of thought. A lifetime of experience with women helps, and so do the women I've known who are into this genre who give me advice from time to time.

Onlookers are not nearly as difficult, of course. But even for them, this crucifixion is not necessarily the only thing on their minds. In The Serpent's Eye, Sabina is an onlooker at Lucilla's crucifixion. She's there to see someone crucified, period, doesn't matter who. Verina, the prostitute, is there to see the man who raped and beat her up crucified; incidentally, she's looking for business, too. Everyone there probably has work to do, things to get back to, and won't stay long after the cross is raised. So most of them are going to see a brief slice of time out of the days of suffering that the victim is going to experience.

Mine is being crucified as a public spectacle, naked and vulnerable.

Good question to consider.

If I had to choose between watching and being the victim I would choose the role of the victim. While it would be nice to watch a crucifixion, I would like to be the central, or one of the central objects of attention -- being stripped of my last dignity, led naked through the streets and affixed to the cross in front of everyone who are wanting to watch me suffer.

Though, if I had the opportunity to be one of the executioners, I would certainly do that. :)

I'm too old to be attractive on the cross, too squeamish to be the executioner, so I'm one of the indispensible but forgotten minions who get the stipes out of the ground, repair the hole and cut fresh wedges, then wander round town spreading the word about how attractive today's victims will be, so my brother can sell more wine to the crowd.

Well of course I would watch. How could I not?
The beauty of a body in extremis, the struggle of the victim, the drama of a fight for life played out in front of an unsympathetic audience. Limb and muscle, curve and line all displayed to best advantage. Rise and fall, tense and relax, an ever changing show.
But the cross calls to me, too. Lifted off the ground, suspended between heaven and earth. The delicious tension in torso and arms, the stress of a body fighting with gravity, arms and shoulders pulled tight.
The sensation of being naked and vulnerable.
How can it not delight both victim and witness?
