First, the movie’s most dynamic image, the restrained and punished woman, surpasses other Jac Avila creations with the possible exception of Maleficarum. Amy Hesketh, Mila Joya, and Beatriz Rivera are easy on the eyes and offer the visual delights of a good whipping that S&M aficionados appreciate. But that’s for just for starters. There’s more. Take the archetypal number three, the staple of myth and legend which accounts for its dominance in the Bible. Jac Avila follows Sade’s lead in exploring it. The novel mentions twenty-one victims (three sevens) consumed in the prison fire. Adulthood is also age twenty-one, a hint that when Justine escapes from prison, she is old enough to take responsibility for her decision-making, or more specifically her inaction, in a theme that runs through Sade’s work.
Joek0@Margot: I would love to see Bea in a more GIMP style film like Le Marquis and Agent X. How about considering a spy movie with Bea? Who knows if Eda's story or Agent Y will will ever come to pass any time soon. Speaking of GIMP movies, any possible chance that Specters of Blood Castle getting a release date any time soon?JD
I can say that it is almost official. Bea and Jac have began the process to shoot at least three movies between now and the end of February! One of said movies will be in the style of Le Marquis De La Croix. That means a medieval period setting, same period torture instruments, some of which we already have and Jac is considering some others. Another film will be in a contemporary setting, in the style of Agent X, modern tortures, including electrical shocks and so on. Plenty of whipping, of course, that's our style, and, yes, total nudity. The third film is going to be made in the style of Sirwiñakuy. or Pygmalion.. A story of the naughty doings of an unlikely couple.

PygmalionPromo0306.jpg

In the meantime The Spectres of Blood Castle. will be released next year, as well as Seven Days on the Cross Five, an hour and a half version of the 7 DAYS series but as a stand alone film with the long awaited sequence of Varinia suffering impalement while she agonises nailed to the cross, the price she must pay for the water she's made to drink, drop by drop, from the wet and dirty rag that once covered her tortured body. Another film that might be released next year is Double Cross, a film where Amy and Vero share a cross after being forced to torture each other.

DoubleCrossPromo034.jpg

D. Santorum: Margot said: My question is, will our audience be happy to hear that Bea might be the star of two or more total GIMP movies? It's been a while since I checked in here, so forgive my slow response. But my answer is a big fat YES. smile Bea is obviously gorgeous, and as I've noted before, her reactions in the whipping scene of Justine were fantastic. That remains one of the highlights of the film for me. Are you telling us that she has become more comfortable with the idea of complete nudity? Because a "total GIMP" movie just isn't going to work without it. Just being honest, and I suspect I speak for the vast majority of GIMP fans on that point. Anyway, I look forward to hearing more about this very interesting development..
Bea tried costumes for the medieval period movie, three of them, and Jac picked one that gave her a very innocent look. It is a simple but beautiful dress that fits her well and one that she will wear during the first sequence of the movie, and ONLY during that first sequence, she will loose it and nothing will cover her for the rest of the story. Bea saw Le Marquis De La Croix a couple of weeks ago for the first time. She hadn't seen it. One afternoon she and Jac got together, had tea and then she asked to see it. When it was over, she said she liked it and that was all. So, when she suggested she would be willing to embark in the kind of intense, intimate, filming adventure that Camille, Amy, Vero and Mila went through with Jac, she understood that she would go all the way, as they did. There are no limits except those dealing with safety issues.

CastingBea0006.jpg

After long discussions between Jac and Amy... and of course Bea, they came up with the idea to create a members only page for all those who wish to support these projects. Depending on the amount of their contribution to these projects, supporters would have access to the site for either a month, 3 months or 9 months or until the time the film is released, which ever comes first. There will be the option of contributing to special perks, as well a pre buying a DVD or download. The page will start in early in January, once we have it set. It will show the progress of the film(s), with pictures and clips of the making of the movie, a description of the story line, a detail of the tortures the new heroine will go through and more. I will be posting the progress of these projects here, from time to time, of course, however, because of the over exposure to JUSTINE, we feel that it is better that we don't go crazy promoting these new films, so expectations won't be so high that they will never be met. Instead, we'll go for a more discreet kind of promotion and mostly in the members only site.

JustineMakingOfDay02_4388.jpg

These unexpected projects have suddenly brought Maleficarum II to the foreground. If given the green light, Bea will have a critical leading role in that film. There are four other actresses who have made their wish to be part of the new inquisition movie known, but we still have to do casting with them. I'm not suggesting that Maleficarum II will be made for sure, I'm only intimating that it has become a strong possibility. It does need a lot of funds. If anyone is wondering about Amy and Mila acting in any of the upcoming movies, Amy will be starring in Erix film, she also has a leading role in The Series., she's going to be one of the directors as well as one of the producers. She will return in Dead But Dreaming II and III, she's going to be producing more and she has at least two projects she's going to be directing. Mila, in the other hand, has a great role in The Series and another one in Erix film and she'll be in Dead But Dreaming II and III.. I don't know what her plans are after that. She has decided that for the time being, until we start shooting The Series, she's going to be doing a lot of her own artistic work, and taking care of her son, who has reached an age where he needs a lot more of parenting than before.

DBDMakingOf_1902.jpg

That's all the news I have for now, we're closing the year, preparing for the holidays, trips here and there, some are going far, some are staying put. Bea and Jac are now busy preparing for the new productions while the rest of the team went on vacation until next year. We're all turning the leaf, hoping that things will not get as terrible as we all fear they will. The world is getting closer to the apocalypse. And it doesn't look like the feared Zombie apocalypse, it looks more like the Clown's apocalypse.

Bea and the new productions to be.

Both the Marquis de Sade and Jac Avila question the central conundrum about God that has forever perplexed the faithful. Is He merciful or simply whimsical? Sade the atheist dismisses the argument altogether as illustrated when Justine is imprisoned in the monastery’s collection of tortured female flesh. To make way for new girls, current ones are regularly discharged (murdered) but without any particular reason. Age, attractiveness, attitude, nothing seems to determine who is chosen and why. Jac Avila has a larger, moral take on the question. To understand how he handles this deeper issue, view this thought provoking film and watch for what is not included here.

provostHappy holidays, all! That is very welcome news from Margot: I became a Bea fan at first sight, and so would love to see her featured in future films. In fact, I contributed $200 or so to Justine, with the specific request that Bea experience the bastinado, but for some artistic reason or other that did not happen. Perhaps we can hope that Bea's soles are tested in one of the future films.

When you have three ladies to torture, it's very difficult to pay all the attention each one of those wonderful women deserve. When you only have one, there's a lot more you can do to make her feel like she's the one deserving of all that attention. Maybe Bea has reached that high plateau where she will suffer alone all the misfortunes planned for her. I don't know what that will include, but I'm sure I'll be learning about it soon. What I do know is that the experience the heroine will go through will last ten days. The shooting may take twice as long, but I don't know for sure. Will there be bastinado? Perhaps.

LeMarquisTeaseCaps00471204.jpg

provosAlso, I have not heard much said about the actress who plays Amy's sister--is this someone we should know? I would love to see her in future films. The contrast between the elaborate period costume and glamorous make-up, on the one hand, and the strictures of the chamber, on the other, is part of the drama the (for me, anyway) drives these films. The slow, deliberate, absolute deconstruction adds an electric charge to the storyline. About dames dangling over dangers: one of the iconic images, though G-rated and tame, is Noelle Adam in Wonders of Aladdin. Much, much, much is left to the imagination, but imaginations can be wonderful things. Cheers!

Cortney, the actress that plays Juliette, Justine's sister in the story, will be having some roles in the future. She played a role in Dead But Dreaming. She might return in a role in the sequel to that movie. However, she won't be doing any torture scenes. That I know for sure.

moultonsGot my signed DVD of Justine, and I love it! jimsacI bought the movie. The highlight is right at the beginning - the public flogging scene. A beauty to watch. Amy is just incredible in this scene, just like she was in Dead but Dreaming. I also liked the two floggings at the end. Although the triple crucifixion is pretty unique, I would have loved to see the actual nailing scenes and the women raised on their cross (although that may be technically difficult to achieve). I also would have loved to see the girl wearing the crown of thorns actually being crowned.... but overall, a great, unique movie! Thanks Margot and co!
Those are some of the comments we get in some other sites where our films are discussed and we're seeing a steady flow of sales of the new movie. JUSTINE has taken off and it's now traveling very far on its own CINErgy. We're relaxed now, JUSTINE has reached a very high number of viewers and it has not yet been launched on amazon.com. At this time we're looking forward to the release of Pygmalion sometime in March of next year. That new film is pretty much done, next week it will go through sound mix and color correction and that's the end of post-production. I saw a recent cut and I love it. It's funny, sexy and very intimate, almost a personal film where Amy and Jac tell a story within a story within a story. It's fascinating to see that.

The flogging begins, the crowd counts the strokes, and Amy Hesketh initiates this provocative film in a fashion only she can orchestrate. It’s a superb scene and another cinematic triumph for an actress/director whose performance art we’ve come to take for granted.
The time to make a brief review of the year past has come. As individuals we all had our ups and downs and for each one of us the year had its own meaning, but for the collective us, those who have become known as Pachamama Films and Red Feline, the year was sometimes too tense and difficult for many reasons. Too many changes as we had not had in the last 10 years or so. 2016 became a transition year, the kind of time one goes through after a break up, a divorce, or a death in the family, when something drastic has happened and we all need to adapt to the new life. Everyone in our group, family, tribe, whatever you want to call it, went through changes, each individual made decisions that affected the collective. I can truly say that during the year that has gone, our entire structure changed. While Amy remained in the US during the entire year, Jac went off with the NatGeo project, the rest of the group took on different jobs and so on. An era had come to an end and a new one was in its gestation process.

Bea_0050.jpg

As we enter the new year, we're clearing the field and lining up the projects and deciding who is going to be doing what and when. As the year closed some new possibilities came up some of them have to do with Bea, who in a totally unexpected way, out of the blue, as they say, suggested she could work on projects similar to Le Marquis De La Croix and Agent X. That comment took Jac totally by surprise, he had already planned his workload for the year without a torture movie, leaving even Maleficarum II in the back burner. All that has possibly changed. I say possibly because you never know what will transpire between now, when I'm typing this words, and the end of next week, when the landscape should be clearer.

Bea_0012.jpg

The year that ends was dominated by the post production of two projects, JUSTINE and PYGMALION, the production of the NatGeo and the release of JUSTINE. When the highly anticipated film came out, the reactions were very mixed, to say the least. Some love it and some were not very happy with it. However, even with the controversy that followed the release of JUSTINE, it has become the highest seller film of many years. It is very telling because most of the sales came AFTER the negative reviews were published two months ago. JUSTINE is hardly a 'flop', as someone said it was.

JustineVidCaps00282518.jpg

This is how 2016 looks in sales:
JUSTINE is number ONE with 133.3 points!
Maleficarum - 60.2
Le Marquis De La Croix - 30.2
Barbazul - 19.8
Dead But Dreaming - 18.2
OLALLA - 17.8
Martyr - 17.1
Sirwiñakuy - 15.3
Agent X - 13.8
Romana Crucifixa Est - 7.5

RomanaCrucifixa369.jpg

In the overall record of our sales since 1998 the results are very telling too:
Maleficarum is number one with 90.8 points
”Red Feline on the Cross 71.3
Inq 2 - Further Ordeals 42.2
Inq 1 - Red Feline Faces the Inquisition 40.1
JUSTINE37.5!
Dead But Dreaming 30.6
Inq 3 -The Unbearable Tribulations 29.4
Inq 4 - The Execution of the Unrepented 26.8
Agent X 25
Le Marquis De La Croix 22.9

LeMarquisTeaseCaps00273612.jpg

JUSTINE reached the fifth place in only 3 months. Again, hardly a flop. Only Maleficarum managed to go that high in such a short time. We have 39 movies in the market and all of them sell every month, every year, all of them. Some sell a lot more than others, it is clear, and the high production values movies sell the best by a large margin, three times and even more than the others. I can predict that JUSTINE will continue going upward this year, that Maleficarum will keep gaining, Le Marquis De La Croix will do well, the rest will keep their positions because that's how they've been doing it for the last few years. It's predictable. When an economic crisis hits the world, it hits our sales across the board, it doesn't affect the way the sales go, even if there are less items sold, they sell almost at the same rhythm. We'll see how the new productions will do. And Just to give an idea of how things work, this month, that began a few hours ago, has:

JUSTINE leading the pack,
followed by Le Marquis De La Croix
and then The Via Crucis of Camille 1 - 2
Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno 1
Training Jane
Via Crucis of Mila

provostDear Margot, The series you are developing for Bea sounds wonderful and I am sure this board will welcome the previews and initial instalments with nearly as much enthusiasm as they did Justine. To avoid disappointment you might invite suggestions: tableaux are one of the real strengths of Pachamama, and they lend themselves to brief, strong, iconic images....something like short, short stories. Let viewers suggest circumstances and dramatize them, as some do here with borrowed images. I am sure we'll trot out the credit cards when we see the character and quality of the material. The rack is always popular, enhances the appearance of almost any body, admits many ancillary treatments (bastinado, breast and belly work, something under the arms) and we see too little of it around here. Why not start Bea out with a vigorous racking, with all the trimmings? Happy new year.
For the series with Bea Jac has a lot going for him. A great actress willing to go the extra mile, a set that can be transformed to anything he would want, props, many props, lights, really good lights, great cameras, more than one, all of them of high quality. From the times of Maleficarum to the times of JUSTINE, our company has grown in technology. The days of analogue video and a couple of patio 500 watts lights are far gone. There are no worries as far as the quality of what they are intending to do. There are ideas too, many. Anyone with a bit of imagination and a taste for the bizarre and painful can come up with ideas on an hourly basis, some might be doable, others might be very good for animation art and some are just unlikely to become a reality no matter how much effort is put into it. So, what will happen in those movies? Right now not even Bea knows. Next week, if everything goes as planned, Bea and Jac will visit the location where the props are stored. They will discuss some of the details of the story, which is not on paper yet, it's, still, only in Jac's head. I believe that is when the process will actually begin. I'm sure that Jac and Bea will play with the props already there, particularly the rack.

Around the same time, in a week or maybe two, the new members site will be ready to roll, it is under construction. You can visit now: Red Feline Club.
You'll be asked to put a name: Guest and a password: Gimp The name and password will be active for a week or less. Be warned that the content on the site right now is a test. I posted a few of the items we had in our old site to see how the new format will work. It's looking nice and I think when it's all finished it will be a great place to visit. You can post a message on any of the posts there now, let us know what you think. The messages are going to be a good way to make suggestions, share ideas, and so on. Amy thought that it would be a good idea to get a vote on what can happen on a given scene. The club will be for contributors to our work.

The Red Feline Club and The Passion of Bea

JustineVidCaps00310910.jpg

Friday Punishments. Following the slave auction, Justine finds herself in Rodin’s home. His attentions make her uncomfortable. “What need has he for a third woman, I asked myself? Why must they all be so pretty?” she says, again breaking the fourth wall. Taking Justine to a secret panel in her bedchamber, Rosalie pulls back a curtain to reveal the dungeon where Rodin conducts his Friday punishments. Her father comes up with “trifles” to justify his pleasures, Rosalie explains.

Joek0 @Margot: I know that any tortures you inflict upon poor Bea factors in safety as well as Bea agreeing to go along with it. How about working on things that have worked in previous movies you have done. Here are my favorites from the past that you may try again with Bea this year. -An upside down suspension. I know that it was possibly going to happen in Justine, but scrapped last minute due to Amy's health. I know Jac knows about the safety since he has done it twice with Carmen (Martyr and Inquisition 3). -If Bea is up for it, a water torture of some kind. I know Amy had some fear in Agent X. -I asked about this for Justine, but it did not come to pass. How about Bea getting impaled with multiple nails similar to Camille in Red Feline on the Cross. This torture is in the top 3 of the things Jac has done in his RF and Pachamama Film movies.

There will be 7 torture settings in the first film with Bea, what happens in each one will be developed in the next few days. The events will unfold in a ten day period, each day will advance the story, each day more intense. there won't be any public tortures. It will be very similar to Red Feline on the Cross in that way. A bit like going back to the roots kind of thing. I doubt there will be a water torture on this one. Perhaps in the second one, the contemporary one. Upside down is difficult. It worked well with Camille in the Red Feline Faces the Inquisition Series and in Martyr or The Death of St Eulalia. Camille is a very light person. Jac was able to carry her around, by her waist, with one arm, or over his shoulder. She has very strong legs that can support her weight upside down, held by ropes attached to her ankles, and spread eagle. It worked twice and very well.

Martyr010916.jpg

I don't believe that Bea will be willing to be strapped by her ankles and suspended upside down. Mila was willing to do that in JUSTINE, however Jac felt it was too risky. It's specially risky if you don't have a crew in the set ready to go into action if anything happens. It was difficult for Amy in Agent X, when she was upside down for the water torture, the first try was at a more straight down position and Amy had a situation where things could've gotten ugly, so it was decided to have her suspended at a bit of an incline and with her body supported totally by her folded legs. She wasn't going to be upside down in JUSTINE because of issues with her ankles and because Jac did not want to put her and Mila at risk.

AgentX336.jpg

I can see the nails torture, similar to Camille in Red Feline on the Cross and to Amy in the last scene in Agent X Yes. That is not only possible, but I believe is part of the story already. I know that Jac was searching in the prop boxes for the nails to use, the kind that once inserted in the body, stay there, sticking out in a nasty way, the way they were used in Red Feline on the Cross. In Agent X he only inserted the nails in Amy's flesh and retrieved them, like it was done in Maleficarum with the stiletto.

AgentX576.jpg

Joek0 Thanks for sharing your lifetime sales numbers with us. Some of the results surprise me. The thing that still surprises me is how well your original movie, Red Feline on the Cross, does compared to your other films. I know that Maleficarum is undisputed at #1, but RFOTC is not that far behind at #2. RFOTC is also far ahead of #3. I can't believe how much of an impact RFOTC still has to this day regarding your lifetime sales. I hope RFOTC still sells well for you to this day

Red Feline on the Cross was a work inspired by all the work Camille and JJ were doing back in the day, twenty years ago... OMG! Time flies, doesn't it? It was in 1997, Camille was a young 19 year old, beautiful and intense woman, experimenting on how it would be to enact a crucifixion for a movie. All those The Via Crucis of Camille movies were made that year, one after the other, until, in July/August, while Jac was working as a film professor at a prominent university, they went on and made that classic GIMP/CRUX film. They didn't know at the time that they were beginning something that would last decades. It was just the two of them, no one else was involved except me, in some small part. Jac credited a crew, just to have something, but he was simply using the different names and nicknames Camille and Jac have.

rfoctor05promo022.jpg

The appeal of our first release under the RFPIX banner was very, very strong. Even to this day we're asked about whether we'll be having a better version of it. People who bought it in its VHS format, also got it later in its DVD format and some of the big Camille fans are wondering if we'll ever release it in BluRay. Well, it is under consideration. We would love to have all of our films in BluRay for the public. We do have masters in BluRay for exhibition purposes. Some movie houses, like the Cinemateca, do not yet have DCP, the current professional digital format that replaced 35mm projection for public exhibition, so they have BluRay instead. The plan is to upgrade Red Feline on the Cross to a higher quality, so the format will be 2K. That means blowing up the image from what I think is its original 640x480 to 1920x1080 (2K). The new version will have a limited release. It will include scenes that were taken out of the original release in VHS. That's a plan, but we have to have the time to do it and it would be great if it happens before the end of this year, when we'll be celebrating 20 YEARS of its production and the beginning of the Red Feline adventure.

There's also a plan to release a special version of Martyr or The Death of St Eulalia. A compilation of the torture scenes, including those that did not appear in the film itself but were shot. It will be released as a Making Of movie titled something like The Martyrdom of Camille. The torture scenes will be longer, without intercuts of any kind, just straight forward from the beginning to the nasty end.

The horror genre, like it's spiritual cousin Rock 'n' Roll, often suffer through long creative droughts until something ferocious and original suddenly pops up and renews your faith all over again. If you've been feeling a similar dry spell, the films of Amy Hesketh might be the shot of no-budget adrenaline you need. A talented director, actress, writer and producer, Hesketh tackles subjects like the Inquisition and the story of Bluebeard while packing in more violence, nudity and nihilism than any major film would dare. She's also willing to risk it all for her art, including enduring weeks of being stripped, suspended and beaten while playing the lead role in Jac Avila's Inquisition drama Maleficarum. But what's truly surprising is that this expatriate American is doing it all in the remote mountains of Bolivia.</strong></em><strong> (Bill Burke - Fangoria #323)

provost Margot, it works! The new camera works wonderfully well, producing gorgeous skin tones for Bea/Anna/Isobel (and, I imagine, for Jac, but not many will care). Let the shooting begin! Here's hoping there's something in your new work to capture the imagination of everyone on this board. Cheers!

Cheers to you too! When I start getting the pictures from the location there will be much excitement. The testing of the camera was done without much preparation other than pressing the shooter. All of the pictures were taken using the natural light that entered from the office's windows which is next to Jac's bedroom, and bounced from Jac's bathroom which too, is next to the bedroom and has wonderful windows too. He was also helped by the reflection of the white bed cover. So, the pictures I am posting from the test do not reflect the capabilities of the camera to work under very professional conditions, but yes, the pictures came out very nice, the camera is excellent and it captures a great image if used properly. There are a couple of pictures where the light was just right and Bea looks just amazing.

From The Suversive Submissions of Amy Hesketh to The Challenging Submission of Bea for the sake of weird and wonderful Cinema!

AmycoverPicture.jpg

Weng's Chop readers are probably at least aware of the name Amy Hesketh --- I reviewed her 2012 film Barbazul (a.k.a Bluebeard) back in issue #5 --- but probably not as familiar with her body of work as a Weng's Chop reader should be, I mean her films have so much of what a proper Chopper craves: sex, violence, suspense, horror, drama, rich atmosphere along with a familiarity with and passion for all those great Euro genre films of yesteryear that make us all so weak in the knees and kick our nostalgic glands (among others) into overdrive. Honestly, we should all be ashamed of ourselves for not already knowing volumes about this right-up-our-alley talent. ASHAMED, I tell ya! Well, fear not, dear reader ...I'm here to ameliorate your vicissitudes of unfamiliarity , and enlighten you to the painful passions of a filmmaker whose work should figure prominently in your library of weird and wonderful cinema. (Tony Strauss - Weng's Chop #8)

SubversiveSubmisionsofAmy.jpg

So, it is official. The Passion of Isabel, a story of horror, extreme torture and obsession, is now Jac's ongoing project and you can be a part of it, maybe a small part, but a part anyway, by joining the very exclusive Red Feline Club.

Jac and Bea are very busy now, preparing themselves, organising and decorating the set, setting up the equipment and testing all of the props and gadgets they will be using for the next few weeks of pain and pleasure. In the past, the work of preparing the set was supervised by Jac and Amy and carried out by a crew which included them, of course, since Amy was the handy person that built the big props like the rack, but now the entire production rests on Bea and Jac alone. Mostly Jac, because all the heavy lifting will be done by him. He did all the heavy lifting in Agent X and many of the movies we have, most of them, actually, so, it's not something he's not already familiar with, painfully familiar. So, it begins, a new production for the new year and for the new cycle. I'm not ready to call it the Bea Cycle yet, but it might become just be that. I heard they already have 5 productions in mind. Two of those possible films include traveling to far away locations, which can be thrilling and special. I have another picture that Jac took with his iPad and sent it to me. I placed the title on it and all of that, but I've been told that it doesn't look pretty, so I'll change it for future promos. I can't wait until I start receiving the high quality pictures taken with the good cameras and with the set all ready and lit with the Arri lights.

PassionMakingOf_2683.jpg

Lashes Greetings All, ?? What has happened to AMY?? I must have missed something here! I read where Jac has her tools and will try building sets from memory! I guess when remembering the Red Feline movies with Amy the "sets" did not require a whole lot of building!

Amy is well, healthy and happy, but she's in the US for some time with a lot of work and academic pursuits. Jac has the tools she uses to build props like the Spanish Horse and The Rack in Maleficarum. Jac will attempt to build his own version of the Spanish Horse. I had early word that it might involve spikes, it just might. He has the tools and all the materials used before. Bea and Jac discussed the possibility of having Isabel going through that particular torture, I also heard that Bea might want it to be somewhat worse than before. The problem is that they can't go crazy and use all the tortures available to Torquemada, that would be overkill, so they have to choose and choose wisely. They might submit some of those choices to a vote in the Red Feline Club.

Eda Margot: Aside from the fact that you misidentified the author of my comments, you missed my point. It is not a question of whether your expanded films generate more revenue in a shorter period of time than your smaller ones. It is that it took such an incredible amount of time for you to produce and release Justine that you would have done far better making four smaller films in the same time. Do you understand the concept of "opportunity cost"? And I'm sorry, but even producers of $200M films don't take 9 months for post-production (except maybe for Jim Cameron, but you can take that time when your films gross a billion dollars). My comments were directed to Amy, and I would love her response. I will not deign to offer any more advice, and will hope that you prove me wrong. But I doubt it.

I'm truly sorry for not identifying you properly when responding to your welcome advise. Second, Amy is really busy these days, as is Jac and neither of them have the time to sit and go over the comments at the Gimp or any other place to respond to all the comments, so that makes me the official first responder, I'm in charge of shedding light in our tremendous work and putting out the fires, including those I start. I'm the spokesperson in the group and I have just enough information not to put my foot deep in my mouth, and I'm not always successful. I also love our amazing bunch very much and I become like the mother hen of the group when I sense they are coming under attack. Maybe Amy will stop by and respond, but she took a long time to answer the questionnaire for a big interview... so, I don't know. Having said that and without the wish to be argumentative, I'd like to comment on your comment. But I fear that it will take a bit to make my point, so bear with me. To avoid loooooong posts, I'll respond in parts, in different posts. First, you can be sure that 200 million dollar films take a lot longer than 9 months in post. Star Wars: The Force Awakens began shooting in April of 2014 and production was completed in November of that year! It was finally released December 14, 2015. That's more than one year in post. All those special effects take a couple of years to make them work. As a matter of fact, they began post BEFORE they started shooting the actual movie. Since they have the huge budgets, they can hire crews of hundreds for post but even with a huge crew they take a very long time to do post, a lot more than 9 months. The rolling credits at the end of some of those movies feel like they last as long as the movie. In the other hand, a small Woody Allen film takes one year from shooting to release. In our case, in 4 1/2 years, since the end of 2010 we produced The Via Crucis of Mila, Barbazul, Maleficarum, Le Marquis de la Croix, Dead But Dreaming, Ekeko, OLALLA. JUSTINE, Pymalion and 5 music videos. That's almost 2 feature films per year, we released one or two features every year during those 5 years, we gave employment to a lot of talented people and at least 7 in our crew were year round full time workers. And we had a great time doing it. And made good money. (To be continued)

Justine goes Theatrical and Isabel goes to The Rack

JustineVidCaps00571523.jpg

I woke up the morning before the weekend and received a call by our highly esteemed Beto, who plays such wonderful characters as the Butler in Barbazul and the mean inquisitor in Maleficarum, he asked: Have you seen the newspaper this morning? I said no. They are announcing the premiere of JUSTINE for March! He said in a panic voice, he added: And I didn't know anything about that! What's happening? Why am I out of the loop?!!!

I had to respond to him that I was not aware of any agreement between us and movie theatres yet. I knew that Jac had an appointment last week but he didn't make it because he got distracted with The Passion of Isabel. Beto suggested, sternly, that I go out and get myself a copy or two of the newspaper, which I did. And there it was, with a color picture of Amy, the newspaper announcing that 7 Bolivian films will be premiering this year, one of them, Jac Avila's JUSTINE. To my surprise, there was already a date! March 2nd! I was sure that was news to everyone, including Amy and Jac, the producers. And yes, everyone in the cast and crew started contacting everyone else about this nobody new wtf was happening. Jac had to go to have a talk with the people who made that announcement to the newspaper, and he returned with the news that the premiere will be in March, but on the 16th, because it was very possible that Amy and Erix will be returning from the US just before that date. So, now it is official, JUSTINE is going to have a theatrical run after all.

While all that was happening, Bea and Jac were very busy getting ready for The Passion of Isabel, they spent Saturday at the set. Actually, Jac spent most of Saturday carrying a lot of big and heavy things to the set, setting things up there and then waited for Bea to arrive to test something that was very, very important for him. The Wheel/Rack. There's a bigger illustrated story about this at the Red Feline Club.

This is the short version. The question in Jac's mind was what kind of Rack was he going to be featuring in his new movie. He had an idea but he wasn't sure if it would be physically possible, so he needed Bea to test his idea and to see if she was willing to be put through that... and to make sure it was safe, within perilous reason, of course. He also wanted to know if he could use The Wheel from JUSTINE as a Rack. It was designed to be used in that fashion as well, but it was never tested. In fact, when The Wheel was put upright, it had the tendency to go dangerously forward. There were other issues that were evident, so it was never tried that way. Jac thought of a way of preventing the wheel from falling forward, squashing anyone who would be on its way down or attached to it and he was ready to test it... with Bea.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_07905.jpg

There was another issue with The Wheel. Would Bea be willing to be attached to the surface while The Wheel was upright? And to be turn around knowing that she would be upside down at one point with only her ankles supporting her body? Would the structure of The Wheel hold someone in that fashion? Part of that scenario was tested. Bea climbed up the wheel to see how she felt about it. The Wheel held her well and she was fine with it. Now the question remains, is Jac going to turn the wheel around? The test will come... I think... soon.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_07931.jpg

That night, after all that testing, Jac was all beside himself with joy. Bea was willing to be put through some pretty scary and visually striking wheel tortures and The Wheel itself suddenly became a very important part of the movie, perhaps the most important. A giant step for the production. There are some questions lingering: can The Wheel be turn and turn around, when upright, safely and would Bea be willing to go at it? The other questions are more of the creative kind, what sort of tortures are going to be applied to Isabel while she's on the wheel? There's one movie that Jac saw a while ago and he was talking about it, last year, I think. In that movie, the story of a Saint, the main character, a woman, is nailed to a wheel. She's fully clothed, but that scene is very effective. I think he's considering that now.

JUSTINE has a date at the Cinemas and Isabel has a date at the Dungeon!

JustineVidCaps00175302.jpg

It's official JUSTINE will have a theatrical release on March 16th. The premiere will take place the night before at the Cinemateca, where we premiered OLALLA and Dead But Dreaming and where Maleficarum was censored. I believe after the scandal with the censorship of Maleficarum, they decided to show ALL our movies. As a matter of fact, we will have a week with all our movies sometime after the theatrical screenings of JUSTINE. This event will be very special because Amy plans to attend the premiere and that means that after more than a year, the entire Pachamama Films cast and crew will get together for a grand party. Many things can happen when we have a gathering such as the one we're going to have. It will be fantastic, that's the least I can say.

JustineMakingOfDay13_15405.jpg

The Passion of Isabel, is advancing in ways that I can only describe as exciting. Jac un-dusted the two Canons he had stored up in a closet. He hasn't use them in a very long time, so long that he forgot how they work and how they are. After working with all those state of the art cameras, like the Sony he's going to be using as the main camera in his new movie, he thought they were archaic, perhaps as archaic as the Canon he bought to shoot Martyr way back in 2002. Well, he was amazed to find out that the frame on these two little cameras is not 1080 but actually 1920... so, not bad. So, he'll be using a GoPro, the Sony, a Canon similar to the one used in Maleficarum and those two Canons. Five cameras! 5 different angles for each take. Completely awesome. I'll be telling the story of the shooting, day by day kind of thing... maybe even shot by shot, in our famous Red Feline Club.

Follow the adventures of the making of this new film. Yesterday

Jac and Bea were again taking pictures at the location after setting up more lights. They are getting closer to production!

MakingOfPassionIsabel_08001.jpg

There was a comment related to the lighting of 'porn' movies when they use multiple cameras. The comment was that those movies look like TV sitcoms. Jac disagrees, he thinks they look like shots made with hospital lights. He made that comment many years ago. I bring it up because even though he'll be using 5 cameras to shoot The Passion of Isabel, that won't affect the atmosphere of the movie. Agent X was shot with three cameras simultaneously and it looks great, and they weren't the state of the art cameras we have now. In Maleficarum he used three cameras for the BATS scene too, and you can't tell the difference between those cameras. Using multiple cameras doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice atmospheric quality. For The Passion of Isabel he's setting up the lights so the dungeon will look its best. He wants a totally different look from all previous films in that location.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_08020.jpg

Picaro on January 15, 2017 FABULOUS! Three scenes on the wheel, who cares anymore, WHIP AWAY!!! but throw in pincers and a hot iron for good measure.

That comment came in the club right after I posted the long article about The Rack. I think this type of rack is becoming very popular and I think it will be something that Jac only dreamed he could sometime do in a movie. It's becoming a reality. He was commenting to me, and to me alone, that maybe this movie should be Maleficarum II. The reason is because of his choice of Torquemada, the creator, la matière grise, of The Holy Inquisition as the character that tortures Isabel. I can't comment right now how he arrived to that conclusion and what it means to the script, but... Who knows?

Setting Up The Dungeon For Isabel

MakingOfPassionIsabel_07965.jpg

The Passion of Isabel rushes ahead. The set is almost ready, all those perky details are being taken care of by Jac, sometimes with a little help from Eric the torturer and of course Bea who has to be in place when Jac tests the lights, the chains, The Rack and all those things he plans to use in the movie. I'm telling more of the development of the project at the Red Feline Club.

Michael Max @17399) Reine Margot Yesterday Jac and Bea were again taking pictures at the location after setting up more lights. They are getting closer to production! The pic of Bea with the metal band around her waist is excellent. It looks much better than anything that came from the Justine set. There is a sense of vulnerability in the girl's body language, and the predicament is perfect with the iron pulling on and indenting her flesh.

As you know, from watching JUSTINE, the metal belt has a huge and heavy metal ball hanging and pulling the belt down, pressing her flesh further. It is in that position, under that duress, standing on the spikes under her feet, that she's going to be suffering a good flogging. Jac took many pictures of that moment, they are all good, one of them might become the poster for the film.

But the strap around her throat makes me think hanging would be a perfect punishment for the purple hair. lol

The strap is not a strap. Strap implies a softer material, like leather, that is a metal brace that holds Isabel's neck. A punishing position, to be sure, but the hair has nothing to do with it. BTW, I understand that the hair will be her normal black.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_07991.jpg

provost Thanks, Margot, for the continuing updates about Bea's (Isabel's) Passion. I'm in for a year to see how the story unfolds and am glad to see that others are joining. Inspired by the popularity of the tiger bench, perhaps Jac will finally set to work on Bea's soles: the bench is a great start, then probing with a sharp stick (knitting needle, toothpick) elicits a strong reaction...then on to the bastinado and a touch of hot irons or fire. All this with knees locked on the tiger's bench should give Bea plenty to be passionate about. Cheers!

Thank you provost for joining the club... and better, to want to be with us for a whole year! You became part of that 50% goal we reached today! I'm very happy to see people joining and offering their support! As far as your comment on the Tiger's Bench, I'm afraid that The Passion of Isabel is not set in a period of time when the Tiger Bench was famous and/or known. That torture is not in the script. However it is more than possible that it will be put to great use in the second feature with Bea, Agent Y, set in modern times, a spy story in the tradition of Agent X, where our new heroine can suffer all kinds of 21st century indignities. There is a scene like Tigers Bench in Perils of Jane in the Green Inferno, where Jane gets a bastinado treatment in such fashion. Isabel will get a bastinado in The Passion of Isabel, but that's for another post later.

Amy replaced by Bea?!

PygmalionPromoAmy0300.jpg

On the surface, it might be tempting for some to dismissively label Amy's work as mere erotic thrillers aimed at the BDSM crowd (and there are plenty who have), what with all the tying-up and flogging and whatnot -- because there is a lot of tying up and flogging and whatnot --- but that would just be a lazy surface analysis and missing much of what makes her films so unique and interesting. Because amid all the tying-up and flogging and whatnot is a series of works that are subversively feminist. Yeah. That's right, I said Feminist. (Tony Strauss, Weng's Chop)

EkekoPoster.jpg

Lashes Greetings All, Just wondering if Amy is being replaced by Bea. In my book this could never happen! Amy is and was one of a kind when it comes to her performances in the earlier movies! Bea is an attractive girl (body wise)!.

No one is replacing anyone. Amy did not replace Carmen and Bea is not replacing Amy. Bea is working in a few movies with Jac, like Carmen and Amy did in the past and still do, but not as a replacement. At one point, Carmen decided to stay in France to dedicate herself to other endeavours, one of them to form a family, and to put her efforts in theatre. She's doing great. She might return to work with Jac in Pachamama The Series. Yes, that's the title of the television series, Pachamama (Mother Earth). Amy is a producer, director, script writer and actress with Pachamama Films and she will continue to be so. As a matter of fact, she's very much involved in the production of The Passion of Isabel. She'll be returning to Bolivia for the premiere of JUSTINE in theaters, she's going to be a lead character in Pachamama The Series and other films, including Dead But Dreaming II and Aventura. Amy is not only a fantastic actress, she's also a great director who is committed to her career. We'll be hearing a lot about her work in the future. Both, Amy and Jac, have a lot in mind for the next few years.

DBDMakingOf1821.jpg

Bea is working in a few films that she's interested in working in. Not as a replacement, but as her own person. She is on her way to grow as an actress and she's getting more involved in all aspects of production and who knows, she might one day be directing her own movies. Although what I see is that she's more interested in photography. A new cycle has began with Bea, it will be different, that's normal. There will be new faces as well, new challenges, new movies, all kinds of movies, beginning with The Passion of Isabel.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_08022.jpg

provost Margot, thank you for the ongoing reports and photos of the preparations for Isabel's passion. The centrality of the rack to the process is an excellent idea: it is seldom used in a prolonged fashion, nor are its variants explored. I must mention that Bea has been stripped completely for her ordeal: after so much comment about the "diapers" it is surprising that the change has drawn so little comment. She is a brave and beautiful young woman....

Jac is going to be using the Rack/Wheel in ways that it becomes central to the story. Its imposing size, its terrifying look, will grab Isabel's attention from the very beginning. She will see all those menacing devices when she first walks into the dungeon that she refuses to believe that all of them could be used on her. She can imagine that One of those monstrous apparatus would suffice to end her life in a most painful way. She doesn't know that Torquemada has all of that in mind of her. And worse than that. Each of those implements displayed for her terror, can be used in more than one way. And yes, Bea is a beautiful, brave young woman who will impress everyone with her performance in The Passion of Isabel.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_08018.jpg

The Passion of Isabel will go into production any moment now. Bea and Jac are finishing up setting up the Dungeon. I will begin to report on the actual production of the movie early next week in the

While Amy and Jac work on Pygmalion, Bea goes on Vacation.

PygmalionPromo1670.jpg

The picture that made Lashes exclaim What a 'BEAUTIFUL' picture of AMY! was taken during the production of her new film Pygmalion, where she plays a lead role, but the leading lady in that film is Mila, playing a violin in the picture above, who takes the role of Galatea/Elisa/Vera. Pygmalion is the story of an artist that makes a beautiful statue, names it Galatea, falls in love with it and makes the Goddess Aphrodite jealous. She gives the statue life, to the joy of Pygmalion, but the Galatea rejects her creator. Amy (Aphrodite) and Jac (Pygmalion) had a nice conference to discuss the latest cut of Pygmalion, which Jac sent to Amy for her Divine approval. So, Jac will go over their notes and make the changes in that movie. It's looking great, very unusual movie. I'll be talking about Amy's new movie as its release to the world approaches. We have JUSTINE about to go theatrical, it will happen in March. We have Pygmalion going through the final stages of post production and now we have The Passion of Isabel about to go into production. Not bad... ah, and not to mention the NatGeo project that is now in post as well.

Jac and Bea were in the set of The Passion of Isabel again. There are some details of the Dungeon to be worked out. Some drilling was needed to attach a couple of shackles to the concave roof of the small room where Amy and Mila spent some time chained to the wall in Maleficarum. Bea will be chained in that room too, but in the middle of it, her arms stretched to the sides, her wrists held by the shackles they spent the afternoon setting up. Jac didn't have the Sony camera with him, only a Canon he was going to test, so he took a few pictures. The lights were not set up properly for the room. It is a small room, so the pictures were just a test of what it would look like. Jac is not happy with the pictures, but I think they look nice.

There's a long weekend in Bolivia, it is a good time to travel, it is summer in the south, so Bea and her friends decided to take a nice vacation by the lake. Bea likes to travel a lot. So off she went while Jac stayed to continue working in the set of The Passion of Isabel and the editing of Pygmalion. If everything goes well with the set, Isabel will begin her torturous ordeal on Tuesday and it will begin in the small room, where she'll be chained up, stripped, beaten, raped and whatnot. I'll have news from that and more at the Red Feline Club and here as well.

Isabel and her seven days in captivity.
MakingOfPassionIsabelDay04_8549.jpg

The Passion of Isabel
had seven days of production, all of them in The Cell, where Isabel spent her time wondering if she would be freed. Raped three times, flogged and without much to drink or eat, she learns that her fate is in the hands of her captor, Torquemada. The first three sequences of The Passion of Isabel are done. Tomorrow Isabel will be dragged out of The Cell and into The Dungeon where the naked victim of Torquemada will be tortured without mercy for the next two to three weeks of production. The question is will Isabel's body will be destroyed first? Or her Soul?

PassionEditing20170208095525.jpg
The Passion of Isabel is in its second week of production, with at least two or maybe three more weeks of torment for poor Isabel. It will depend on the complexity of the scenes and the time it takes to carry them out. The work is very, very involved and tiring, specially because it is just Jac and Bea doing all the work. In the next two days they plan to complete one sequence that has already been planned. Not much input will be needed. Isabel will stand on the spikes, her neck attached to a chain hanging from the ceiling, her waist and wrists attached to a hanging heavy metal ball. In that torturous position she will be whipped, raped and who knows what else.

MakingOfPassionIsabel_07991.jpg

During the coming two weeks a lot can happen which has not been totally decided. There's room for input. Perhaps Torquemada would accept the suggestions of like minded fellow perverts. There are Three situations that beg for ideas. There's the slant rack, where Isabel will be stretched, her feet will suffer the bastinado, her body will be subjected to beatings and pierced with the stiletto... and on and on. Torquemada is open to suggestions from the members of Red Feline Club.

We received a beautiful e mail complementing our work and I had to share it: Hello, I wanted to take a few minutes to make a few comments regarding your work. I first discovered your films many years ago, shortly after you released Red Feline on the Cross. I have just now been re-watching Crux Bride and it prompted me to write and say a few good things about your efforts. In my humble opinion, there is nothing on the market that comes close to matching the artistry, creativity, beauty and abject, ethereally beautiful eroticism you bring to your films. On what has obviously been a rather limited budget, your work is simply superlative. The set designs, the lighting, the cinematography, the actresses, the visceral, stark beauty of it all is, at times, breathtaking. You play on the most basic of human experiences; pain, fear, suffering, sexuality and yes, even joy, longing and completion. Your work is, at its barest root, elemental. I want to thank you for putting forth such effort and, when you first began, for risking your money, creativity and energy on something for which success was not guaranteed. It took a lot of fortitude and resolution for you to have produced your body of work. If you buy any two or more of all those wonderful films, you get a 25% Discount!

And The Passion of Isabel Is Almost Half Way Done!

PassionEditing20170208095303.jpg

The Passion of Isabel is advancing at a very good pace. The first 4 sequences of the film are complete. Isabel is raped in three of them. She's also flogged and whipped in two of them... and she's practically hanged by the neck in one of them, and that's just the beginning of her torments. (Where did I hear that phrase before? Oh yes... in Martyr) If all goes well Jac and Bea should complete the production in two weeks time. The next sequence to be shot is at the Slanted Rack where Isabel will be stretched, she will suffer the ravages of the fire under her feet, the heated metal ball hanging from her waist, the burning hot chain pressing between her legs... but before the fire.... well. I think a lot will happen before then, and that's the fifth sequence. There's a very narrow margin of time to make suggestions as to what will happen to poor Isabel.

mr bush Just a thought, would like to see Amy or Bea in a Parrot perch position in a future film. I bet it would sell.
The Parrot Perch was going to be in Jac's first film, the one about Haiti. He had some very interesting ideas for that film, a docudrama, he recreated some scenes from colonial times, with whippings and crucifixions and beatings and even a Slave revolt. He had the parrot perch in mind, along with another scene that involved a prisoner in a cage on the road to the airport. The prisoner had to be naked, suspended from a lamp post, wrapped with barbed wire, gruesome, right? The other scene involved a woman being tortured at the parrot perch. Unfortunately there were some disagreements with the producers and it didn't happen. But the whippings and crucifixions did.

Michael Max @ 17757) Reine Margot. Great wrist suspension pic! I am not too crazy about the mask, but otherwise it meets the criteria. Simple, Symmetric, Sexy.... I guess those are the three S's.
Once upon a time Amy and Jac were thinking of making a movie that took place during carnival. They even shot a lot of the exterior scenes during one carnival afternoon, where Amy was wearing the mask and so on. The idea was that she was captured by some Pepinos, a traditional costume in Carnival down south, and tortured. During the beginning of her torments she would be wearing the carnival mask. The suspension scene was going to be like in the picture. But I think it was around that time that they decided to do Fantom instead where there's a great wrist suspension scene, spiced with a good whipping.

Fantom05-323.jpg

Ralphus Mr Bush wrote: (...) Honestly, I think it would (sell), too. As I mentioned before, the parrot's perch is woefully underused in gimp movies. It would be a most welcome break from the usual simulated whipping and crucifixion scenes that have dominated Jac's oeurve from the very beginning and may bring him a new challenge.

I know that Jac and Bea are planning a contemporary spy flick a la (similar to) Agent X. A contemporary movie might, of course, involved many contemporary tortures such as water boarding, electrocution, parrot's perch, suspension and even some cigarette burning, Jac is saving a Cuban Cigar just for that occasion. There was such a scene in another film Amy and Jac were thinking about, where Amy was going to be a DEA agent falling in the hands of a Narco who would make her spill the beans and what not. In that story Mila was going to be the one administering a good dose of cigarette burning to Amy's flesh. Another film that was never made, maybe because by the time they were thinking about it, the did Maleficarum instead, with hot iron burnings. However, Fantom had something similar to a parrot's perch.

Fantom1033.jpg

Ralphus It's easy to do what you're comfortable with again and again, but the problem is your movies all tend to look the same, with only the actress changing. That tends to get a little boring. Trying something new and different would also help him grow as an artist. And yes, I do think it would bring him more customers...if the reaction of the board is any indication, people are interested in the parrot's perch as a torture technique. Like I say, you just don't see it done too often at all.

I don't think in the last few years Jac and Amy repeated themselves, as a matter of fact they made really different movies. Maleficarum is very different from JUSTINE and Dead But Dreaming is totally different from OLALLA. They are all different and in all of the films there's always something different. There are similarities, of course, whippings are whippings, even if they are made to look different, crucifixions will be crucifixions, whether you nail up the person to a T cross, an X cross, a wheel, a rock or a wall, like in Red Room.

RedRoomcomposite.jpg

The Passion of Isabel is different too, even if Jac is using some of the props from JUSTINE, but they are used in very different and creative ways. That's it for now.
