I hope this exercise in crux whimsy continues. But it's time for more obscene displays.

Two manips based on Red Feline's Romana Crucifixa Est. The first is a crux/lesbian BDSM crossover. Something for a significant percentage of everyone!

Next is a crossover film poster, featuring ca. 1980 versions of the Engish rose Jenny Agutter and the . . . controversial Mel Gibson, who went on to cement his place in cinema history and crux legend with The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre.

Also find a still from Romana. Not the exact pose, but what the heck, it's on topic.

I've done so many scenes in The Serpent's Eye that would fit here. The scenes where Sabina was whipped on the cross were particularly obscene since they depicted sexual torture.

Gundericus, the executioner's helper, swings the whip. Sabina was helpless to protect her soft round breasts and swelling nipples from the searing strokes of the whip that came inexorably, one after the other. In this picture, she has twisted her hips away from him and her legs are together in an effort to protect her porcella from him, knowing that it's only a matter of time until he will whip her down there, too.

But the agony in her breasts, the whip leaving burning, bleeding welt on top of welt, builds until it is beyond bearing. She has only one option to try to draw his attention away from them, if only for a few precious moments. In desperation, she spreads her legs wide, thrusts her hips forward and forces herself to turn them more toward him, presenting her soft labia, clitoris, vagina, everything, fully exposing and offering them to the whip.

Will the sacrifice she offers be enough to turn the whip away from her burning, throbbing breasts? Her body trembles as she struggles to hold herself open for what must be coming.

Her face is turned away from Gundericus so she won't have to watch; if she sees the whip coming she knows she can't control herself. Her legs will close on their own, she'll never be able to hold them open, and she has to, this is her only choice. But she can't stop her eyes from being drawn toward him in horror.

When the knots of the whip strike, driving into the soft flesh of her cleft, the most sensitive part of her body, the stinging, searing pain forces the air from her lungs in a wild, helpless scream. Her hips jerk backward reflexively in an effort to escape the source of her agony. Shaking, she pulls helplessly against the nails in her wrists and feet as her tortured body twists and writhes.

These images remind me of the glorious celebrations of female sex

I've caused controversy in the past by saying it,
but there does seem to me to be a strong link between the 'dance' of crucifixion
and the pangs of birthing - and a deep ambiguity between humiliation and celebration of our sexuality.

I haven't finished the story that goes with this scene, but in brief, this is what is happening:

Aricina, the blonde on the cross, urinated on the carnifex, Verres Maximus, while he was nailing her feet. She had to be punished for doing that.

Verres had already made a crown of thorns and placed it on her head because she is a Christian. The trumped-up charge was that others overheard her mention her master's name while praying, and interpreted that as casting a curse on her master.

Verres' choice for her punishment was to cut one of the long, sharp thorns from her crown and use its point to probe under and pull her clit up, force its hood back and fully expose it. Then he slowly forced the thorn through it until it was skewered like a tiny piece of meat. Now, the most sensitive part of her body, to which anything beyond the most gentle touch of the tip of a moist tongue directly on it was painful, is stretched out, exposed to the air, the sun, and insects that will come for the tiny ooze of blood there. In addition to the agony of crucifixion, whenever she tries to rest on the sedile she will have to endure the stabbing pain when her clit is ground against the rough wood, pinched and twisted by the thorn.

In the picture, Verres admires his work as Aricina looks down in horror and pain toward what she cannot see. She can only guess what he has done to her and fervently hopes she is wrong. The male spectator is amused, while the women who look on are horrified.

If something equivalent were being done to a man, chances are you might see the reactions reversed by gender for the most part. In this case the women can relate while the men only figure that it probably hurts some. I'm not equipped to relate either, but in my estimation that would probably hurt like hell.

I recall a 1st century C.E. account mentioning sometimes guys' third legs were in fact nailed.

I remember seeing that for a while on the Wikipedia entry for crucifixion. It was supposedly to keep men from slipping off of the sedile. Sounded like pure bs to me, and the person who put that on there couldn't come up with any authoritative reference for it, so it was eventually removed.

If there's any doubt about nails in the palms of the hands tearing out with all of the ligaments and tendons in those, imagine how quickly a nail could be torn out of a penis that has only minimal cartilaginous tissue.

Now with among all of the crucifixions that were done in ancient times you can bet that such things were tried and worse. If you can imagine it, someone has probably done it.
 
Trouble is, skin is extremely tough - and those very sensitive bits, male and female -
are also exceptionally tough bits of gristle, could take quite a lot of (very painful) pulling on a nail.
