Being whipped is an art form and depending on your tolerance for pain you can take quite a beating.

Since I work with lawyers my "limit" is I can not be cut up or unable to sit down when we are having a session. A lot of what type of punishment you take depends on the whip itself. Broad short blades tend to beat, long thin one cut (well all thin ones can cut), it is all based on the physics involved.

A thin whip is moving at incredible speed at the end so it tends to slice. And lash is thicker towards of the handle is moving slower but because it is heavier it has more mass and tends to smack.

Important reasons for wanting to be sure the person handling the whips knows what they are doing. I can tell you thru a safe word when I've had enough.

I use the thin and long one.
it is all based on, as you write, the physics involved and also on physical aspect. Is your skin very sensitive? :)

No and my slightly darker coloration helps. We also used a generous amount of baby oil.

As I said, I work with lawyers, so there is a certain amount of professional appearance to be maintained and questions you don't want to have to answer.

I also have a very high tolerance for pain (walked around on a torn ACL for a month one time) so both you and the tormentor have to be aware of that. Going thru physical therapy after the torn ACL involved electro-stimulation of the leg muscles. The idea is they set it for as high as they can before you are in pain. I once kicked the therapist (due to the stimulation not a conscious action) and her response was "Stop being such a guy and tell me when you feel pain." We both laughed because she specialized in male athletes who (because she was super cute) kept trying to prove how tough they were to her.

Would have done her and her husband in a heartbeat.
