Two historical engravings from the 1784 French novel "La paysane pervertie, ou Les dangers de la ville" by Restif de la Bretonne, art by Louis Binet. The book is in its entirety at the Internet Archive, in complete scans of four separate library copies, but only one of them has these particular engravings, no doubt because they were considered too racy:

Not entirely sure what the story is -- the descriptive French text pages are at the above link, pages 16 to 18, but the language is a bit too florid for me to follow the plot. However, in the first image we get the narrator being tied up, blindfolded and ball-gagged (!) while in full 18th century dress, whereas in the second she is chained with raised arms and given 20 strokes of the cane on her bare back. I think it's pretend-judicial rather than actually judicial, but would need to follow the plot in more detail to be sure. The image of the caning I have posted is much better quality than at archive.org, and is taken from an auction listing at Christies.

A judicial whipping scene set in medieval German in 1410, from the TV adaptation of "Die Wanderhure" -- a respectable merchant's daughter is falsely accused by her devious fiance of not being a maiden, arrested and raped in jail (thus making the false accusation true). She is condemned to be flogged and then exiled from the town and declared "vogelfrei", i.e. without rights and free to be abused or raped at will. This Youtube scene shows the flogging itself (with the cane on the bare back in kneeling position) and the bloody back afterwards when she is mercifully taken in by a group a wandering prostitutes.

Indeed. One of my favorite videos as well, and I like the second girl - they have excellent camera angling coverage.
