Shaving down there - for or against?

I love this topic. I'm also going to make some generalizations about sex and gender and I also enjoy being corrected. One of the specific advantages of saying stupid things is the opportunity to learn something new.

I personally love pubic hair, and think there are a bunch of different factors at play. There's the question of visual aesthetic, control, confidence, and practicality of sex. I'll leave out the studies that say having pubic hair prevents certain diseases, because that's not really what we are talking about here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's commonly believed that men are more into visual erotica than women are, so that when we guys give our opinion of Yay or Nay on pubic hair, we are mostly thinking about how it looks. And guys have different opinions on this too. I personally love looking at images of different stylings of pubic hair, and the different colors that can go with it.

And there there's control. A lot of BDSM stories I've read usually have the shy inexperienced girl start out hairy, and then their new Dom takes them in hand and forces them to shave, "Because that's what your master/mistress wants." The point is not whether she does or doesn't have it, but that the choice isn't hers. I think when @geolier said women with pubic hair look like real women, he's thinking what I think could possibly be true for some women, which is that modern women are being pressured into going bare. I think there are similar concerns about whether women freely choose to wear high heels or hijabs, where you can see both as a symbol of oppression, but you might piss of the woman you're trying to liberate if you get in her face about it.

And then there's confidence, and I think this is something that's slightly problematic, but enjoy none the less. I think a lot of guys, especially those who grew up with inferiority complexes, like myself, fetishize shyness and lack of confidence in a girl. In this case a girl who wears a black hoodie and cargo plants during springtime can be more attractive that a girl in short shorts and a banana strap top. And I think with that comes the idea that this woman is not preparing for sex, because they aren't expecting attention. She's not putting on make up, or getting expensive haircuts or doing her nails, and if she isn't concerned about her pubic hair other than how it feels for her. This lack of preparation can put a certain guy at ease. It would probably stress me out if I went on a date with a girl and found out that she had spent hours at the salon the day before getting her hair done, and hours before dinner doing her nails, and in preparation for later seeing to deforesting her pussy. Part of me is thinking "You could have spent that time doing literally anything else," and another part of me gets neurotic about how much effort I'm putting in.
Ladies don't usually fetishize lack of confidence in their partners, or in themselves. And I think for a lot of women shaving or trimming and stylizing their lower hair makes them feel more confident.

And then of course there how it feels during sex. I've mostly had unshaven partners, but have gone down on a woman four days after she shaved. If you ever wanted to know what haven your tongue sandpapered feels like, there you go. As for tasting the hair, don't mind it.

Those are my thoughts. Maybe a little uneven, I wrote them out of order, but hope that in intelligence and stupidity they will prove insightful.

Thanks for this. Certainly seems both intelligent and insightful to me. :)

A very interesting take on the subject! :) I have never thought of it that way before but it looks to have certain similiarities with the reason why I prefer hairy girls.

I also like it that way since I prefer those girls who don't spend too much time on how they look. And like you said, it could be because I like those shy, less confident types than the opposite ones. (Just to be clear, I only feel that way within the context of my slavery fantasies. And I wouldn't want my partner to play submissive 24/7.)

But the reason why I like them shy and less confident is not because I feel more comfortable that way, as it is the case with you from what you said above.

Rather, the main reason for me is because my slavery fetish hinges on the degradation of women and such an effect can be maximized if the victim is reluctant to show her body at first. Shaving one's pubic and armpit hair means she expects to show the associated body parts to someone, even it is just to her partner.

In contrast, some girl may be so shy or conservative as to feel it inconceivable to show her private part to anyone. She may even insist to turn the light off when she is about to sleep with her loved one, or always wear such clothes that covers her shoulder area.

What if we take such a shy, demure kind of girl and force her to strip naked on public, so that her most shameful (in her mind) body parts are exposed for all to see? Even though she wouldn't trim her bushes or shave underarms, she would feel it more humiliating to expose them in their natural state because she knows it's a social norm for girls to keep those parts clean.

So, if she had felt less confident with her appearance, compared to other more assertive girls, being exposed in such a way - with her shameful body parts covered with messy turfs like some hairy beast - she would probably experience an intense feeling of degradation, shame, and being inferior to her former peers who still keep their proper well-groomed facade expected of a girl.

I prefer to keep the slave girls in my fantasies in such a mindset - always feeling demure, shameful, inferior, and self-conscious of their degraded state, compared with more beautiful, clean, and confident free women around them.

That is the main reason why I prefer slaves, or victims of my fantasies to keep their natural body hairs.

I think this is also the case with me. I like girls who look like hot messes, even when clothed. Want them to look like they've constantly just came out of a mosh pit.

It is kind of interesting watching porn videos and movies where the girl starts out clothed, and then trying to guess, based on how she dresses and carries herself, what the situation down south will be. It's easy to guess the ones who are shaved, but I've getting the ones I think will be hairy wrong.

I'm no fan of au naturel or girls shaving designs (e.g. lightning bolts) onto themselves, but my opinions outside that are kind of whatever. Most of my artwork skews toward clean shaven, but in real life I suppose I have no particular ordering of preference. As with many things, different women pull off different looks ... differently. ;)
Would be curious to get your opinion, and @montycrusto too, what is your experience of creating shaven and unshaven girls in your art? Just took a glance at some of your excellent work, and you are really good at showing the lower lips. It seems like a lot of artist could use pubic hair as a shortcut to not having to draw the details of a vagina, not monty but some, and others who don't have pubic hair don't define the details of the woman's sex, so that they look like greek Venuses or 18th century paintings.

I don't recall ever having been with a woman who shaved down there. That said, this is not because of any choice I made, and I don't think I have a particular preference, when in the moment. It just worked out that way. If the mood is right, I'm not going to fuss about whether the woman wants to be hairy or smooth. I have gone down on all my partners, and I have had a bit of pubic hair stuck in my teeth, and I've swallowed a bit. Anyway, I can't say really whether I might notice a difference in whether sex is different, better, more or less sensitive, or whatever with a shaved woman versus a not-shaved woman.

Visually, there is something erotic to me about pubic hair around a woman's genitals. I like the way it looks. I like the feel of it under my fingers, and I like the aroma of sweat and sex that pubic hair captures. Maybe it's just as good with a shaved woman. But that's from my "male partner" perspective.

My current partner does not shave. My former partners also did not shave - they were all of the philosophy (or so they said) that they liked the natural feel. I did not complain. They were also not particularly shy. In fact, most of my partners were quite adventurous and open to try things. Just because she doesn't shave or do her nails does not equate inexperience, shyness, or any sort of hesitancy or lack of confidence on a woman's part, in my experience. One of my former girlfriends only shaved her legs (and only because she didn't like hair in her pantyhose/nylons) and nowhere else, because to her that made her feel natural and sexy. I didn't argue. I was not turned off by it.

I understand that some women feel that shaving makes them feel cleaner, or more sexy. I have seen articles where women say they shave because it makes their lady parts more sensitive during sex. Again, I think it comes down to personal preference.

I said above that I find pubic hair sexy and erotic. This is quite true, but I do not find shaved women less attractive for that reason. I'm an equal opportunity deviant in that regard. :D

Not me :) In my case, public hair is where I try to put more details rather than something with which I can hide the lack of details.

(It's a quick test render with a WIP skin texture, so please don't be too hard on the quality.)

That's something I've noticed about your work. You realistically portray the effects forced labor in a mine has on these slave girls. It seems like this ones hair is thinning out.

Just a clarification—I don't draw. I do some 3D modeling and shader work, but that's about as close I get. All my stuff consists of 3D figures posed and rendered under [mostly] physically accurate lighting.

With the resources at my disposal, creating pubic hair that looks good is a hit-and-miss affair. I got a decent result a few months ago with this...

...but I'm typically more concerned with making sure the genitalia is realistic.

The "Venus" effect is due to the base figure's sexual anatomy not being very good. You'll typically want third-party resources to get the best realism—and yes, concealing bad modeling with pubic hair and camera positioning are possible workarounds ... both of which I still sometimes use to this day. :p

Thus reminds me of a comic strip in which Lucy noticed that Charlie Brown always drew people with their hands behind their backs and came up with a complicated psychological theory to explain it. Charlie Brown said “no, I just can’t draw hands”

actually it’s rare that I draw the lady-parts in this much detail, not from lack of interest though. Personally I like shaven or trimmed but not too fussy.. and when I’ve shaved myself (TMI) I’ve certainly felt more sexy and sensitive.. sorry if that’s an overshare:devil:

All right, my humble opinion.

'For or against' seems a little bit 'black or white' discussion. It is matter of taste, first of all, of personal choice, and the erotic perception of an adult naked body.
I prefer unshaven, first of all, because in my teens, while growing up, there was only 'unshaven', so that has become the erotic standard for me for nearly two decades. When unshaven became fashionable, during the ninetees, well, I started to 'miss something' in the pic. It was not the same anymore. The 'mytical forest' had gone.

Just a matter of personal preference, so.
I can find a pic of naked damsels in distress, posted on a thread here on CF erotic, in so far that I like to save it on a disc. But on my personal copy, I always add or enlarge the pubic hair, as a finishing touch.

It occurs to me that while I’m fine with hairy muffs on naked women, I really do not like the sight of hair appearing round the edges of panties or thongs. I’m sure there are people who love that. But it makes me want to reach for my hedge cutter. :p

That’s why at least some hair care down there can be a good thing ... :)

In general, there is nothing sexier than someone being themselves and nothing less sexy than someone trying too hard to be sexy.

As far as what they have down there, by the time you get to see it (in real life as opposed to porn fantasies) you've probably formed an opinion about the person that isn't going to be measurably swayed by the presence or absence of hair...
