Richard Feynman's (the genius who shared the Nobel Prize in 1966 for quantum electrodynamics and a shameless ham) little sister. Apparently talent ran in th family.
You mean Joan Feynman, the genius who identified the mechanism that leads to the formation of auroras and developed a statistical model to determine the number of high-energy particles expelled from coronal mass injections that would hit a spacecraft during its lifetime? She had a brother? Oh yes, I suppose you might mention him in passing ...

When I was working at a bookstore my boss bought a signed copy of "Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman" signed by him. Apparently it's one of the most valuable signatures around. Book sold for $15,000.

Dame Diana Rigg has passed away aged 82.
Synonymous with her iconic role in the 1960's TV series, "The Avengers" as the sexy leather clad sidekick Emma Peel.
R.I.P. to an acting legend. :(

Born in South Yorkshire, educated about two miles from me in the private Fulneck school at Pudsey, won a scholarship from Leeds City Council to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

First professional role at York. Last major role in the remake of All Creatures Great and Small filmed in the Yorkshire Dales.

I think she did more for women's 'empowerment' than any number of 'activists'

Typical Yorkshire lass, us men know our place!

When there are on the same day very good and friendly obituaries in these three most influential German medias about the same person, you know that a star known and highly esteemed by the whole world has died and the second headline is very nice: "Charm in eternity" / "Charming for all the ages"!

Stephen Cohen

argued that the Soviet Union didn’t necessarily have to turn into Stalin's totalitarian hellscape, citing a guy most people in the West never heard of. In my Soviet Area Studies days I found Cohen's arguments persuasive, many didn’t, but the story of Nikolai Bukharin remains one of the singular tragedies of 20th century Russian history.

Cohen's book is is still in my library. Time to reread it.

Notorious. . .

The film about her life, RBG, released in 2018, was both inspiring and revelatory. She did so much for the civil rights of so many, not just women.

:frown:
Yes, it was fascinating to read that many of the cases she argued before the Supreme Court before she became a Justice were against laws that favored women over men. One involved a widower with a young child who wanted the benefits that a widow would have gotten so he could stay home and raise their child after his wife died. She felt that the best way to advance women was to insist that everyone be treated equally.
