Executioner
This series is about Heidi, a stewardess for the German airline Lufthansa during WWII. She was observed passing secret documents to an Allied agent in Argentina after a flight between Lisbon and Buenos Aires. Upon the return to Germany, she was taken by surprise and arrested so quickly she wasn’t able to get her cyanide capsule to her mouth. It was pried from her fingers, and she taken to a secret SS interrogation chamber in Bavaria. The chamber still had some of the original torture engines from the time of the Witchseekers, though they had been modernized by the Germans with Teutonic efficiency.

"This is the Wheel," the SS colonel told Heidi after she had been dragged, bound and gagged, into the chamber. "Recalcitrant witches were burnt to a crisp on the Wheel, just as you will be if you do not tell us who passed you the secret information on our new jet fighter."

But Heidi, who had been a member of the anti-Nazi underground since before the start of the war, said nothing, though she fought her captor fiercely. Her eyes, however, reflected her terror as she gazed on the massive instrument.

"Very well, Fraulein. It appears you need to be convinced by pain beyond your ability to stand it. But make no mistake—you will tell us what we want to know sooner or later. Save yourself the agony of being slowly revolved over the fire by telling us now."

But Heidi said nothing, even after her gag was removed.

"Secure her to the Wheel, Groeber," Hoerst ordered. “She wants to feel the flames licking at her bare flesh.”

" Jawohl, Herr Oberst!"

Good start, Bluemune!

But, since CF is first of all an educational site (and with a few awful perfectionists): : that 'Colonel' is wearing the SS rank insignia of a Gruppenführer, which is equivalent to a Major General. Unless he is an imposter (to make things complicated, he wears the shoulder patches of a Sturmbannführer, equivalent to a Major), Heidi has the honour to be tortured by really high SS-brass!;)

Perhaps the Reichsoberstrudelkonditor himself has taken a personal inerest in the matter?

Well, if we're going in for historical accuracy, was Lufthansa really flying passengers to Buenos Aires during the war - with sexy stewardess serving them? But never mind ... :p

Right, I forgot! It's Bavaria!

Codeshare with a Portugese airline?:p

KLM flew from Lisbon to London during the war, trough Luftwaffe controlled airspace! One was shot down with Leslie Howard on board.

PS a quick Wiki check tells me Deutsche Luft Hansa started flights to Rio Grande del Norte in Brazil (probably as far as the fuel would get them) in April 1939, but when the war began in September all civilian flights were stopped, and the only non-military services were for official personnel within Germany and occupied territories. So maybe our stewardess was caught passing secrets about Hitler's intentions on one of those flights to and back from Brazil just when war was looming.

Oops! I bow to your historical accuracy! I had a tough enough time getting the old SS uniforms to fit the newer characters that I just plumb forgot to check the ranks! I think we ought to just let Heidi gain what solace she can as she is harshly interrogated by a "Major General!" Lucky girl!

Well, according to the W.E.B. Griffen Honor Bound novels, Lufthansa was flying to Buenos Aires during the war with military pilots posing as civilian. With such an authority as a WWII potboiler, it's gotta be accurate, right? :sifone:

I mean, if I was really high SS brass, I'd certainly take the time to preside over the torture of a cute traitorous number like Heidi! What's the point of high rank if you can't.... pull rank! :D

Okay, I give up. I tried to address your comments, Loxuru, which are accurate. In fact, I spent much of today trying to dress the officer in a uniform with appropriate rank badges, but all my efforts came up short. The German SS uniform I was trying to use was simply too old - it wouldn't fit on the character models I was using without distorting (mainly the collar, but the shoulder straps were also uncontrollable). And using an old character model didn't work either - I got the uniform to go on nicely, but I didn't have much in the way of posing tools from that time frame about 10 years ago. So I acknowledge the inaccuracy but it's not worth any more effort to fix it.

<grumble, grumble> Next time I'm going to put the bad-guys or girls in loincloths . . .

Anyway, here's the next few images:

All of Heidi's struggles came to naught, as Goerber and Hoerst managed to get her secured to the massive wheel. Heidi had fought desperately, since she well knew the reputation of the SS. She could feel the heat of the fire below the Wheel, and she knew if the Germans got those metal restraints in place, locking her limbs to the Wheel, she would be helpless to stop whatever they wished to do to her. And she knew she couldn't divulge the names of those who had passed her the secret plans--they needed time to get away, to put distance between themselves and the SS and Gestapo.

And she knew that, once secured to that Wheel, the torture would start and the only way she could buy time for her fellow resistance fighters was by enduring the agony promised by this hideous device.

A cold hand of ice gripped her as her dress and shoes were ruthlessly ripped from her and cast aside carelessly. The thought of passing over the fire with nothing but her underwear to protect her skin from the flames was beyond terrifying. Then the Wheel jerked into motion and began to revolve.

As her feet and lower legs began to pass through the flames, she desperately gritted her teeth against the unbearable pain.

How does one bear the unbearable? she asked herself desperately as she bravely choked back her scream of agony. She had to hold out. She had to.

I think her underwear will either catch fire or melt onto her flesh. Either way, she's going to have a hard time keeping her mouth shut - between screams of course. Great work, Bleumune, and we'll forgive you for the incorrect insignia!

The Wheel is revolving fairly briskly since the SS interrogators have no wish to inflict serious burns right at the beginning. They've achieved good results using this device, and anyway, poor Hiedi isn't going to be wearing her underwear too much longer! So it won't have time to catch fire or melt!
