Imprisonment and Execution in Modern Singapore Part III of Barb's Singapore Saga

Yup, that describes our German „Exportschlager“ (products that are frequently exported) very nicely. We describe ourselves as peaceful but there rarely is a war without German arms involved. It only makes sense that we - since we abolished the death penalty- also export gear for execution. And as always, our products are state of the art. I hope the ladies will be able to appreciate quality made in Germany.

Loose threads - loose threads! They must be gathered up!

Seratus Empat Puluh Tujuh – 22 Hours

Commandant’s Office, Changi Prison, Singapore, 1:55 PM
Mamat picked up his phone and dialed the Infirmary. He asked for Dr. Liú. When she came on, they exchanged the usual greetings. Then the Commandant got to the gist of the matter.

“Are you free this evening, Dr?”
“I’m afraid that I’ve worked very late the last two days. I was planning an early bedtime.”
Mamat asked again, this time there was steel in his voice, “Are you free this evening, Dr?”
Chunhua shivered at the cold threat in his tone. She knew the required answer. “Yes, I’m free. What can I do to help?”
“I have a friend who would like some company tonight, and when I told him about our brilliant young surgeon, he insisted on meeting you. He is highly-educated, very wealthy, and a student of female nature. He has already arranged to have you picked up at 6 PM and driven to his place for dinner. Then the evening will last as long as you two wish. I am hoping that you two hit it off well, and you will stay as long as he wishes.” Again, there was a threatening tone in his voice.
“I shall be pleased to meet him and will be most accomodating.” Chunhua's heart broke as she was confronted with the first time the Commandant whored her out. She knew more would come.
“Exactly what I had wished to hear,” said the Commandant. “I knew I could count on our friendship.”
“Of course, Sir. By the way. What is his name?”

“He is a young Chinese man with impeccable dress and manners. His name is Mr. An.”

Chief Inspector’s Ofice, Parliamentary Guards Headquarters, Singapore, Thursday, 2:00 PM
Musa hung up the phone and turned to Frost. “Good news! The Colonel has arranged an audience with President Berbahagia for tomorrow morning. Both you and I are to attend.”
Excellent! What time?”
“10:15 AM.”
“Lord, that’s cutting it close. The executions are scheduled for noon!”
“Closer than you think, my friend. The President is flying back in from Jakarta tomorrow morning. We are to be there by 10:15, but there’s no guarantee she will.”
Frost raised his voice. “My God, Musa! That’s too close! Doesn’t the Colonel realize the urgent timing?”
“Calm down, Jack. Of course, he does. Fortunately, we could get an audience at all. You can’t merely accost the President the moment she steps off the plane. It was only through the help of Rut Betar-Gisber that it is happening at all. We can’t order the President to change her schedule for this. It’s the best that could be arranged.”
“Then, let’s pray, it is good enough!”

Cell, Parliamentary Guards Headquarters, Singapore, Thursday, 2:30 PM
The jail nurse entered Josephine’s cell to take her medical history. After politely greeting the prisoner, she took out an iPad and began asking questions. The woman had an excellent bedside manner, which blended well with Josephine’s cultivated ease of dealing with people. Soon the two were chatting amiably.
Josephine’s current and past health proved to be almost spotless.
“When was your last complete physical?”
“Two months ago. The special physicians to the Cabinet Ministers gave me an executive physical. I received a clean bill.”
“Are you on birth control?”
“Yes. I have another five days supply with me.”
“Fine, we’ll order the prescription from your pharmacy and have it for you tomorrow. Have you ever been pregnant?”
“Yes, once. It was terminated.”
“Any complications?”
“No.”
“Are you sexually active?”
“Yes.”

After all had been asked and recorded, the nurse took Jo’s vitals, blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight and drew a blood sample for a required drug test. She explained that she was also responsible for diet. She asked if Jo had any special dietary needs or any food allergies. Jo answered in the negative, except for the fact that she despised Brussels Sprouts.
They both laughed at that. The nurse continued the informal banter by asking, “What’s your favorite food then?”
“Italian.”
“Oh! Then, you are in luck. Our jail chef is Italian and an excellent cook. You will be impressed by his amazing recipes. I shall have him supply you with a full list for your dinner choice tonight!”
“I don’t suppose wine is allowed in the jail?” asked Josephine.
“I’m afraid that the kitchen doesn’t carry any alcoholic beverages. However, we do allow prisoners to consume their own supplies. If you could have a bottle of your wine delivered to the Commissary, you would be allowed two 150ml glasses a day, one with lunch and one with dinner.”
“Thank you,” said Josephine, with sincere appreciation. “I shall arrange that immediately.”

Jeffrey Hodges Office, US Embassy, Singapore, Thursday, 2:50 PM
Jeffrey gave a sigh of relief. The legal pleading based on the new evidence that the detectives supplied was complete. And he had finished well before the time he had promised.
Jeffrey took a moment to congratulate himself for producing a clear, thorough, and concise brief in record time. Of course, Amelia Rittenhouse had been a gem, he thought. She knew her stuff and had been most efficient and helpful with suggestions and corrections and even a few total re-writes. She actually went so far as to insert additional legal arguments - which were spot on. He hardly recognized the product when it came back to him each time after her work.
He had spoken to Burnside this morning, and the Minister was entirely behind Jeffrey’s efforts, despite the Ambassador’s wish to forget the whole affair. “We need to do all we can to prevent their execution,” he’d said.
Hodges had Mrs. Rittenhouse e-mail copies to the Guards Inspector bin Ibrahim and Burnside. Shortly after, the Minister popped his head in to congratulate Jeffrey on the result.
“Excellent work, Hodges. Really excellent. The best I’ve seen from you. You are hitting your stride!”
As he took his leave, Robert said, “See you and Kathy at dinner tonight. Don’t let all this legal stuff about the girls cause you to forget how important for your career tonight’s affair will be. I can tell you, confidentially, that the Ambassador is considering big things for you. Big things. Be on your best behavior!”
Left alone, Jeffrey could relax a while as he waited to hear back from the detectives. He thought of what Minister Burnside had said concerning the Ambassador’s dinner tonight. The invitation itself was a great honor. And it seemed, from what the Minister had said, that this was a golden opportunity to significantly advance his career. ‘Best behavior?’ He hoped Kathy would not embarrass him. He loved her very much, but she didn’t have his sophistication and polish. Kathy was a sweet, simple girl, he thought, with none of his superior intelligence.

Chunhua, confirmed as Mamat`s pet whore,
Will have to perform at least once more.
What is Josephine`s future role,
If she needs some more birth control?
Thanks to the efforts of Musa and Frost,
For Barb all is not yet lost.
Will the effect of the affairs of State,
Mean a reprieve, but alas, just too late?

After all his peccadilloes we have witnessed so far, does this clown really believe he is superior to any woman. My God! The egos men possess! Unbelievable!

There's been so much hot activity of late that I had almost forgotten about our resident "Take Credit Where It's Not Due" lawyer ... almost! And exactly which Hilton is it that Josephine has been taken to? Another great read PrPr

Moving inevitably toward the Execution Chamber

Seratus Empat Puluh Lapan – 21 Hours

Chief Inspector’s Office, Parliamentary Guards Headquarters, Singapore, Thursday, 3:00 PM
Musa and Frost each reviewed Hodges brief.
“This seems excellent for our purposes,” observed Musa.
“Oh, there’s no doubt this is fine work, alright. I would never have believed that pretty-boy Jeffrey had it in him to produce such. Everything else he’s done, he’s cocked-up”
“Really? Well, I suppose you’ve had more time with him than I. But this is outstanding work in a short time.”
“I agree that it is. However, I suspect that the gray-haired secretary of his had a lot to do with it. She seems very competent. However, she’s a cold one. Butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth.”
Musa laughed out loud. “Whoever wrote it, let’s call Jeffrey.”
They got Jeffrey on the phone and praised the brief, and then told him the meeting time.
“10:15? That’s much too close. And I’m supposed to be at the prison with my two clients by eleven.”
“I’ve been thinking about that, Jeffrey, Dear,” interrupted Frost. “With your brief in hand, we don’t require you at the Presidental Palace, the Isvania -”
“The Istana.” corrected Musa.
“Whatever. We have the facts and the heavy hitters. Too big a delegation slows things down and starts people making speeches! You toddle on over to Changi, and Musa and I will handle the President.”
“If you are sure. I know Barbara and Amanda need my support. Should I tell them that we have a way to get them off?”
“Best not, Mr. Hodges,” said Musa. “We’ve got no guarantee, and it would be cruel to raise their hopes and then destroy them.”
“I suppose you are right. You will keep me informed?”
“Certainly.” The call ended, and the two detectives looked at each other with wry expressions.

“That was considerate,” opined Frost. “‘No guarantee?’ Does the prat honestly think this is a free shot? Singapore will release the girls, give them a medal and pay their way back to the States? If you were a betting man and not a copper, what odds would you give us?”
“Nine to five against. The President will be loath to reverse given her Cabinet’s recommendation.”
“Really? That good?” asked Frost. “I would have gone a solid three to one down.”

Cell, Parliamentary Guards Headquarters, Singapore, Thursday, 3:30 PM
A guard entered Josephine’s cell and handed her an iPhone. “Your lawyer,” he said.
Jo took the phone, and the guard left her in privacy to speak to her attorney.
“Josephine?”
“Yes, Mr. Chan?”
“I filed the papers entering your guilty plea with the court. I just finished a conference call with the Parliamentary judge and the Parliamentary prosecutor. It was most collegial. Since it is an uncontested case, we do not need any delays for evidence or additional pleadings. The judge has scheduled your trial for nine tomorrow morning.”
“Good. I want all uncertainty over with as soon as possible. No delays.”
“It shall be. Do you wish to address the court to plea for mercy? I would strongly recommend that you do so. A personal plea is most effective.”
“I would prefer not. You may address my public service and ask for mercy on my behalf.”
“Are you certain? I believe it is an unwise decision.”
“Quite certain.”
“As you wish. I can assure you that almost all uncertainty will be removed tomorrow before noon as your sentence is pronounced. The only part remaining would be your appeal.”
“There will be no appeal. I forbid it,” said Josephine in a stern, determined voice. “Understand?”
“Yes. I shall follow your wishes. Is that your final decision?”
“Yes.”
“Then, I’ll see you in court tomorrow.”
“Thank you. I do appreciate all you are doing for me.”
“It is so very little I can do. But that is because of your choices, Miss Shanmugam.”
“Yes. My choices.” Josephine hung up the phone and went and knocked on the door to return it to the guard. She went back and sat on the cot. The young woman took a deep breath and thought, my choices!

Cells, Death Row, Changi Prison, Singapore, Thursday, 5:10 PM
After they had toured the execution chamber, the two women were taken back to their cells. The guards had left them, fully chained, bound to rings on the wall. Not only was this most uncomfortable, but it prevented any wiping or comforting of sore and wet areas.
However, the constant pain of the shackles and lingering hurt from the rapes were nothing to the emotional pain that they were suffering. Their final sexual arousal experience had been a degrading display followed by a series of rough and humiliating rapes. And after, they had been brought face to face with the brutal style of death prepared for them. A steel pole would be penetrating, tearing, and plunging deep into their interior, while a cruel noose would be used to strangle them to near unconsciousness, only to be loosened to allow their re-experience of their pain. All repeated slowly until they were begging for death.

About five o’clock, guards brought them dinner. It was the usual slop on tin plates with room temperature tea. Still chained, each was hand-fed like a helpless infant. A short scene was repeated, almost verbatim, in each cell.
Head Guard: “Enjoy your last meal, bitch?”
Prisoner: “Last meal? No choice? No special food?”
Head Guard: “We don’t believe in coddling those about to die. Your last meal is nothing more than that – your last.”
Prisoner: “Nothing in the morning?”
Head Guard: “We don’t waste food on the condemned’s last day. Anyway, you’d probably puke it all up once the execution began.”

The prisoners were left, chained and hooded, to contemplate their fate.

Hodges Office, US Embassy, Singapore, Thursday, 5:20 PM
Jeffrey arranged for an Embassy limousine to drive him home to pick up his wife and then go to the Cricket Club. Stepping out of his office, he changed into a formal suit in the locker room. Looking in the mirror, Jeffrey thought he looked good – except, of course, the perpetually unruly hair. Yes, he thought, I’ll make a good impression on Walkerson tonight.

Parliamentary Guards Headquarters, Singapore, Thursday, 5:35 PM
Jack Frost stood on the steps in front of the Parliamentary Guards HQ. His fedora was pulled down at an awkward angle, and his suit was its usually rumpled self. But the short older man seemed to have a touch of pride in his stance.

Jack knew the end of his last case would come tomorrow, and there was nothing more he could do to influence the outcome. He had promised himself that he would get to the bottom of the case when he saw Barbara being railroaded. And now he had!
He would leave the pleadings to Musa bin Ibrahim. The young detective was intense, intelligent, and, most importantly, diplomatic. Frost knew his limitations. He knew he was argy-bargy. If given half a chance, he’d fly off the handle, insult everyone in the room, and their whole case would go balls-up! No, it was time to let the younger generation take over. And Jack trusted bin Ibrahim. He almost thought of Musa now as a son. A dark-skinned, Malay-Christian, Parliamentary Guards, son.

As Jack entered the taxi for his ride home, he felt a sense of contentment. Whatever the outcome - he had done his best.
Perhaps, he thought, he might skip the G&T entirely tonight. He wanted his old mind to be clear tomorrow.

That awkward time when everything one has ever said or done races through one’s consciousness at break neck speed, hurried as one’s immediately impending end of life hits home like a ton of bricks.

What will I be remembered for? Will I be remembered at all? Do I deserve to die as wretchedly as this ... as a petty criminal?

Will I accept the moment of my execution with stoic dignity? Or will I further disgrace myself by whining and begging shamelessly, screaming and swearing incoherently, struggling against any constraints hopelessly, fouling myself embarrassingly?

Will those in attendance laugh at me, enjoy my nakedness, my fear and desperation ... or will they take pity on me, regret their attendance at such a sordid affair, look away in disgust?

These, and many more, thoughts shall race through my poor distressed mind over the few hours I have left ... recorded nowhere ... known only to me in my deeply personal and solitary silent hours of despair and doom.

punishment machines
We get a sneak peek at Oskar Clemens overseeing every detail of the preparations before Netflix comes in to set up pay-per-view. "The execution apparatus must and shall operate einwandfrei," he says.
Is it just me, or is that technician assistant in the tight lab dress polishing the tips of the implement rods, her soft yet strong fingers up and down the slick, hard steel, polishing it to maximum shine, incredibly erotic?
