paise, 'pains', je crois - mais peut-être pèse 'weighs me down' comme dans la dernière ligne - mais je pense que c'est un jeu de mots

This version is a little different from Eulalia's. Perhaps a translation to modern French?

Je suis François, cela me peine
Né à Paris, près de Pontoise
Au bout de la corde d'une toise
Mon cou saura ce que mon cul pèse.

I dont agree with "peine" : if it was, why the same verb is used for "poise" ?

This is the translation for "peine" :

It could make sense but in this case, the word "peine" ("pene") would be used ... not "poise" ...
 
A Limerick can cause such a storm
And can be quite tricky, in form,
But when it`s cleverly used,
We can be highly amused,
If it doesn`t stray too far from the norm.
Opps, my Limerick is clearly against the rules. He miss the fifth row. Take the image for that!
