It could be checking for drug smuggling. When I was inducted into the US army (1969), at the preliminary physical all us inductees were naked. At one point, the sergeant lined up 5 of us at a time, then ordered us to "Bend over and spread 'em." I had no idea why at the time, but was told by another young man later that they were checking for drugs. Evidently, some guys smuggled drugs in that way. Who knew.

yes, he would say so. More probably he liked to see young assholes. There is a problem with the testicles they check. In my case (Swiss army) we were checked but had still the underwear on. Guess all this crazy stuff in the other army is indeed sexually motivated, or for humiliation purposes.

In my experience, the process was devoid of emotion. Just a sergeant checking my anus with a flashlight. Took about 10 seconds, if that.

So they kept it at low level. it might be that this is different in some countries. Some people believe they can discover homosexuals like that or in Armenia you can discover soccer fans with that method, because those smuggle flares with the column in the stadium and so they have have a rather enlarged hole. We naturally would check, if our recruits already were crucified and experienced a cornu. In my country we don't look at all, because else the recruits, would eat a lot of onions before the check.

As young soldier I learned that my uniform, or camouflage suit and more importantly the so called Tenu Tech ( a suit we used for the automotovie service) had allways to be in. perfect order, else you end up like this....

It was said that this pic really shows a marine or GI. In some sense it was thought it is a problem for the soldier, but I do not think so, there are a lot of nude pics, the problem would be if this GI has a homosexual ration, but this seems not mandatory (I copied it from a gay twitter, and gay believe a nude man is gay per definition...)
