Can't add pictures

I know I've never "tuoched" myself....but it sounds French...and kinky.
tuoch is found in early Middle English and Older Scots (and Madiosi's Germanglish) as a spelling for touch

To me it sounds like latin: tu ouch - which means something like "you hurt my feelings". Maybe Caesar actually said this instead of tu quoque ....

I've just found that I can't upload any pictures. I can select and add the files to the post, but when I go to insert the thumbnail, there's nothing there and it tells me that both files are just 693 bytes long but both the files I tried to upload are around the 340Kb - 360Kb mark.

Presumably someone has been tinkering with the code and ended up breaking something :(

Seems like a rather heavy-handed solution to the problem of high-volume-image-posting ;)
I told them not to fix what wasn't broken, but once again someone didn't listen to me and went ahead anyway and ended up breaking it

I don’t think anyone (including me) has tinkered with anything. Shit happens. IM is looking into it

Whatever the problem is, it's affecting the whole site. I just tried to test-post an image in here to test an hypothesis that this may only be affecting the high-traffic picture threads which is where I do most of my activity, but I got the same result here so whatever is broken is across the board. I guess if you're going to screw something up you might as well do it on a grand scale :(

Anyway it turns out if you upload and attach a PDF that works; also if you upload an MP4 video and insert it, it's properly stored and displayed.
(No I did not upload anything big, just a few hundred KB :D )

So storing uploaded assets still works and we don't have to worry that the server hard disk is full or corrupted ;)

It's just image formats that automatically get resized to 1 x 1 pixel size. What you get as result isn't "broken", it's "properly" resized within the given format -- my guess would be that some kind of limit for maximum image size has come into effect but it's misconfigured...?
