Some stress from a free video sample from Infernal Restraints. Not meaning to carp, but I wish the guy in charge there would pay the light bill! A lot of vids there seem to be shot in this light, but they are hardcore on the bondage and abuse.

Concerning the not existing light in those "barns" (or whatever), you are obviously a fellow sufferer like me and you are very sympathetic to me because I always want to see a bit more, too. Anyway, I just had to "enlighten" some private photos, so I did this because I hate too dark photos:

A lot of filming techniques that are popular in porn I blame on Hollywood. It does seem to me that many mainstream movie scenes are shot in light so low that it is almost impossible to see what's going on. You know how Spinal Tap wanted their amplifiers turned up to 11? It's as though directors of photography want to turn their light sources down to -1. And I think porn has imitated that. There seems to be a tendency now to have "atmospheric" lighting in many porn vids. I'm not saying that all porn videos should be shot in clinical brightness, but I would like to see what's happening.

But the technique that particularly aggravates me is the insistence, or I should say obsession, with close up camera work. I've seen lots of mainstream scenes, say of two characters having a conversation, that are shot in extreme close up; the camera right up in the actor's grill, cutting from one extreme close up to another.

We may not get a good idea where this interaction is taking place, but we can sure see how effective their skin care routine is.

And likewise in porn. I've seen (and paid for with my hard-earned money) vids in which I got to see little more than close ups of various parts of the model's anatomy. The camera does a slow pan in close up and then settles in for twenty or thirty seconds for an extreme close up of her foot, or pussy, or anus, or nipple or eye, or all of them, one after the other. I've watched some particularly aggravating vids where the camera never gets far enough away to give me a good, all over view of the model.

For instance, a couple years ago I bought a video of a woman bound arms over head, tied by her thumbs. And all I wanted was an all over view of the model, on her tiptoes, AOH, bound by her thumbs. I would have been a happy camper if there'd been just a few seconds of what for me is the money shot.

What I got was eight long minutes of a slow camera pan in extreme close up, starting with the feet and working up her body to her thumbs, and then back down again. Up and down, four or five times. And that was it. The camera never moved far enough away to get a look at the model from toes to thumbs in one shot. It was all close up. I've bought a couple of videos of women in the murga position that were the same way. All close up, the camera in slow pan unless it settled in for thirty or forty seconds for an even closer close up of a particular body part, bu never moving away for an all over view, not for two seconds.

I wonder if anyone would be interested in a thread devoted to "Pet Porn Peeves?"
