A bit of a departure from our usual themes, but this painting gives a different view -

Known as 'Fierce Feathers', or 'None shall make them afraid', by James Doyle Penrose it commemorates an incident in 1777 when a group of Native Americans entered a Quaker settlement (Easton, Washington County, NY - apparently there is a commemorative plaque) with hostile intentions, but found all the inhabitants in the Meeting House in silent prayer, and were so surprised and impressed, they laid down their weapons and joined in the silence.
 
Boo! We want to see the women abducted, bound, stripped and enslaved!

Impresssive quakers. But sure, their sexual lifes were annoying.

Seems the most horrible murders and tortures happened during the "french and indian" war. We have a focus with the superb movie "last of the mohicans" starring DD Lewis (a pity he retired) .
