Art model

I always find it a little hypocritical when people decry "pornography" (even something as innocuous as Playboy) yet a "model" stripping down for "art" is not only fine but a worthy pursuit.

It's a girl taking off her clothes for money so that you can ogle it whether it is in a magazine, on the internet or at the local art museum;

Get over yourselves (mom).

ps: The "mom" reference was my mom. She always decried porn and hounded my brothers if she found them with a Playboy but but it was ok for my stepdad (who made his living, and a decent one, as a professional artist) to paint nudes in his art classes and the girls were 'artist's models' not 'porn girls'.

It's a thin line, that, like beauty, is often in the eye of the beholder.

Back in the days before Playboy, the only access most Americans had to nude photos was in so called "Art Magazines".

Gay Talese's "Thy Neighbor’s Wife"

is a history of the Sexual Revolution up to just before AIDS got loose. I read it in late in Reagan’s second term, and this lady was in it.

I seem to remember she and her husband were early recruits to the cause starting in the 1950’s, but the details are hazy. At this point I should excavate my copy and refresh my memory, but I am a lazy man. :rolleyes:

Or the occasional National Geographic that was covering tribal societies in the more remote parts of the world

Not only the native women, but the naked slave girls of Ancient Rome.
