Fantasmo said;"...An estimated (the exact figures don't matter, it's just a magnitude) 97% of the members are lurkers (not posting anything), they don't care what they get, as long as they get something... Those are interested in pictures and texts only anyway.
>=2% are active participants (artists and contributing members) who are not into any real-live BDSM play
Only <=1% (1/3rd of the active members at best) are not only fantasizing but also to a certain extent living their fetish / BDSM and potentialy would like to discuss it or at least read about experiences of others that could be useful if not even instrumental in being able to safely enact one or the other fantasy....

I think it's a good analisys, but how reconcile these different positions, all the more
so since that an enormous majority is only here for fun and fantazy?

And , as you said :
But discussing any real BDSM activities (like "how to..." / "is this or that dangerous") is a slippery slope.

I think it's an interesting question, but difficult to resolve; may be it's better than
rules are clears...?

There is not really a need to reconcile. I just spent some thought on the question where the different positions and the obvious difficulty to understand each others arguments were coming from.

Oh yes, unfortunately, understand each others seems very difficult!:(

Is there some reason that cannibalism and mutilation are singled out? If someone writes a story/poem where dogs bite off parts of a crux victim, will that violate the policy? Or a story/poem where a crux victim is disemboweled?

I'd find nothing in either to be erotic in ANY way, but that's just me....
I hope to be wrong
But today i didn't saw much activty, maybe new rules are littel "scary" for soeme peole, i mean it's right to put them but there are many ways in doing it.
I make you an exemple i'm the mod of one big section of an italian forum on file sharing, 783645 users , and i have changed all rules in a differnt way.
Before there was only sentences like "You can't do that" "You can't write that" i instead didn't gives orders to people, i made a friendly Page whit nice images.
I didn't use any kind of words who seam "imposition", but i write down things as adivices, tring to involve people, telling them this is you forum, i don't think you like to get inside and have fights, as you don't like to have fights in real life.
People feels more at home this way, on the net nuts are everywhere, but i consider them as childs, i don't impose things to them, i try to make them understand they are wrong , if they persist or are just nuts, i press the magic BAN button :p and it's over whitout stress, arguing whit nuts has no sense.

I don't want to teach anything, but when you make a rules for a forum or a webpage there is one important thing to keep in mind, people don't read, i have stats that show that people read an avarage of 10 lines then close the page.
Google made a reserch only the 32% of users goes after page 1, so or goole is perfect or people want to find everthing immediatly.

Another aspect is this people don't have time, this is why when i design a webpage, like a Photoshopping service i just put a lot of image no explanation except for privacy rules , basically is the same i done whit the forum, i alredy know that people don't read a crap, so i put image i accept mistakes if the user is respectful it's fine, if not as i said BAN.
Cheers
Jack

Don't I know? I'm on a dating site elswhere, and I post my pictures, (ALL nice) with a profile, where I CLEARLY state I'm a pre-op transsexual....You think they read a profile? NOPE!!!

It's just disgusting?

The blanket "ban" on "hardcore sadistic pornography" could use some tweaking. Aren't we already hardcore sadistic porn? A person nailed, naked, to a cross until death, used for the erotic and sexual appeal of it?

I think we could use a further explanation in the rules.

To me it appears that depictions of, in prose, poetry, rap, freeverse, computer imagery, painting, penciling, or other non-photographic media, crucifixion involving nails, impalement, ropes, thorns, barbs, pokers, whips, and other devices of sadistic and erotic torture of the victim, who is most likely naked with explicit views into their genitalia, is allowed. The main fetish of the site is crucifixion, but it seems other fetishes may be included in images. Burning alive, stake impalement, target practice, and other forms of violence against the victim appear to be allowed as long as they're erotic in nature. Excessive violence for shock value does not belong on this forum, it'll kill the mood. Photography is basically limited to BDSM suspension play that mimics, but does not brutally reconstruct the crux fantasies.

Obviously, there's a lot of wiggle room, as there should be, but I think that the rules should reflect that as well.

Sorry if that comes off a little strong. Not trying to be rude, that's just my two cents.

That basically sums up the intention of our rules. There is a world of difference between a crude drawing and Arcimboldo at his erotic best. This site was originally about crucified women with photos by Makar and videos by ImageMaker. Over the years it has gradually expanded in scope and membership. What was a small niche in peoples erotic fantasies has grown to an extent that the moderators agreed that a set of rules would be needed. The most obvious guide to what is acceptable can be found by looking through the site's archive. You will find that the moderators are generally permissive and do not wish to spoil anyone's fun. Sometimes posts are reported which are the discussed in our staffroom.

But I'll work around it since I'm not paying for this. Just don't think it takes Tree 10 minutes to come up with a reply...
