in the last temptation its hard to see they don't show it but show what appears to be on the victims being stripped. Also it took me long to realize that the victim is not wear a head scarf but is the assistant that is wearing it and the victim is leaning back while the assistant holding the victims hands behind their back or holding them while the centurion is stripping him. The assistant appears to be standing behind him through the movie.

@prossesor it appear your comment disappear, what you mean about undressing? That we can't seem them doing it or do you feel they are overdressed? I think they are over dressed wearing what appears to be almost like shorts, I though they would wear a more traditional loincloth.

Thank you to @marvista for his last temptation back story. if I were to participate in a mock crucifixion this is how I'd like to be crucified on a cross made out of a tree like the victims in the last temptation (to me it seems more “natural”) or my second choice would be scaffolding style and wearing a loincloth that looks like briefs or actual briefs/speedo and if stripped only after I’m one the cross. They only thing I hate is they don't show you how they crucified this and the other victim in the last temptation, they showed how to do the traditional ones. What is everyone's favorite style? I have seen Modesto crucifixion along the river and that is another good series. Any one knows of any tree or scaffolding style crucifixion?

Yes, I am a huge fan of Modesto but not sure he posts so much anymore. He did a series of great crucifixion videos on You tube but I think they were all pulled down. Does anyone still have these and if so, please post.

Interesting to see those old Ben Hur pictures. I've often thought about the practical dress for galley slaves & a loincloth surely would never have been allowed. If the rowers were criminals then I gather that they would be shackled to the oars to stop them removing their grip on the oar, also to have their ankles chained to the bench to keep them in position - a load of slaves suddenly deciding to rebel would have been an embarrassment.

So pretty well permanently chained to the bench meant that they would have to piss & shit in position without breaking the stroke, so they'd have to be naked & most likely sitting on two poles with a gap to shit through. Those on lower benches would have had a filthy existence.

Though now it is doubted that the rowers were slaves or criminals, if so then I imagine conditions would have been far more civilised with I guess the chance to take breaks with the rowers working in shifts.

Some of the films recounting the life of Francis of Assisi feature considerable nudity. (I'm thinking of Brother Sun, Sister Moon and Francesco .) This saint had a great obsession with the crucifixion of Christ--including, perhaps, a desire to reenact it, which eventuated in the "Stigmata." He could be our patron saint!
