Choosing the Favourite (of the day).

Inspired by the orientalist painting by Giulio Rosati, who focused almost his entire career on orientalist painting. His original painting features what appears to be a new girl in the harem being examined by the Sultan. She seems suitably embarrassed in her new role, but one assumes she will come to terms with the idea sooner or later. Now, one might think that it is perhaps odd to do a modification of one of Rosati's most well-known works, but like many painters, he actually painted at least two different versions himself. In that sense I'm just augmenting or adding my own interpretation to the scene.

In this version, the Sultan is checking out a couple of new girls, to the delight of Barb, who figures she'll have the evening free now. Unfortuntately, since being sold off to the Sultan by Lord Wragg (who got tired of her nocturnal visits to the wine cellars of Cruxton Abbey), she has not had a great deal of time to explore, and I expect that her winsome smile will disappear shortly when she finds out that self-respecting Muslim Sultans don't actually have wine cellars in their palaces. There will be no Riesling today for Barb.

I tend to get caught up in my own thing ... I look at manips in my own eye which is being narrow minded . I have to be more open to what others express in their art .., Really good work Jolly .

Babh el-Indr is most pleased with his prize, particularly since he has played and won in complete ignorance of the rules. The next prize on offer looks quite appealing, and I wonder if this lucky streak will continue...?

The three girls have been inserted as attractive examples of ethnic variety in Rosati's otherwise male-dominated painting, and each figure has presented a distinct set of challenges. The men are in no way distracted from their game by the approach of the black girl, whose lighting and saturation are perfectly matched for the interior scene. The seated girl has featured in a previous Jollyrei manip, showing a tableau vivant, based on one of Gerome's slave auction paintings. Whilst her latest appearance presents consistent lighting and contrast, she has required a considerable degree of colour adjustment to blend in convincingly.

The composition is divided into a shaded/interior (right half) and outdoor scene (left half). As part of the latter, the foreground figure between the wooden posts is defined by overhead sunlight. She has been subjected to a number of warping adjustments, to correct the perspective angle of the source image. The mules behind her have been subtly desaturated and defocused, to allow her prominence. Congratulations on a bold and challenging manipulation, Jollyrei!
 
Well, after over a year's hiatus, I think I can give this gallery thread a bit of a bump. This image would seem to fit here. And for the cognoscenti of such things, I will just note that it's completely gluten, nut, and AI-free.

It appears that pirates have captured several young ladies on their way somewhere and they are being held waiting for transport to the Barbary slave markets. Apparently, these things happen. Just ask Eulalia or Barb.

Based on a photograph by Damien Lovegrove (which includes the background and the central girl), there are 4 additional layers. Known model is Geisha (the black girl). The others are just manip kit stock, I believe, modified and cleaned up. There are an additional 12 colour, tone, and lighting layers to blend everyone together, and the final composition has been subjected to 3 filter layers as well to give the look of a lithograph on canvas.

This is an attractive composition which develops Lovegrove's subject in a dramatic way. There is a sense of tension between the new figures of the pirate and Geisha, who has so far been allowed to keep her necklace and pendant. The girl standing behind the pirate is a model for Mjranumstock, who specialised in figure poses for artists on DeviantArt (and might still be there?) Ranum shows her name as, 'Cordula'. I am unable to identify Lovegrove's original model, whose figure is defined by linear shadows.

We are seeing Jolly's usual close attention to detail in the precise figure extraction, scale and lighting direction. The numerous colour balancing filters have been referred to, although their use is commendably discreet. The printed canvas texture is very subtle, and this filter provides an even blending effect throughout the picture. Nice work, and a fine, new addition to your thread, Jolly! :)
 
I was actually planning to make a Lora out of late Tibool’s works. :D
Of course, I won’t pretend whatever I make with it as “my” art, or approve of anyone who may do so.

Instead, it’s my way of honouring him because it was his works that inspired me to make a Skyrim slavery mod and then start making public renders, all based on the same uncompromisingly degrading and squalid settings that his The Mine series shows.

I felt sad when I learned of his passing, but came up with an idea to keep his art alive by making an AI model trained specifically to generate images similar to his works. As long as people don’t forget to give credits where credits due, I think it could be a great way to pay homage to such a great artist as Tibool.
 
Aztec Sacrifice
The Aztecs and Mayans were very religious people. Religion can be a good thing, leading you to be a better person. I'm not entirely sure what the Aztec thought a better person was like, but church services involved a lot of people getting sacrificed. Hannah and Eva here have perhaps got some second thoughts about attending service this morning.

The manip is made up of a total of 12 distinct layers with an additional 12 colour and blending layers, as well as film grain and noise reduction filters, and some "post-production" shadow and contrast work. Thanks as always to Bobinder and Wragg for graciously providing advice and telling me when the models seemed to defy gravity.

I'm not sure how it could possibly have made Hannah and Eva better, though - they look pretty perfect to me, but I'm not sure those priests intend them to stay that way! :eek:

This is an ambitious composition with a low viewpoint and subdued illumination. The lighting on both girls achieves consistency by burning further shadows into Hannah, and the Aztec figures are modified to engage with Eva, restraining her arms. The result is a successful example of character interaction. Nice work, Jolly! :)
