In History, hangings have taken place in various ways and locations:-

whether the criminal is just left to hang

Hanged at the entrance to the town

or elsewhere in a public place





Eventually, such hangings moved into the prison grounds


Or even into a special chamber within the prison itself

The size of the device means that it could even be deployed in a simple prison cell, where the condemned prisoner can be left and retrieved later.
