This image is for @mp5stab for her excellent model, and for @Apostate because he asked for it (and the pose). Well, and for @Marcella , because she asked for more than one figure.

Also, this might well be the last picture I post on cruxforum. Unfortunately, my desire for a custom title next to my avatar is at odds with one of The Secret Rules, as outlined to me by The Administration. Realistically, I will never reach the posting level required for this ego-stimulating privilege, because making images simply takes too long. So, may fairness prevail here, while I will look for a more unfair place that really wants to have me, and return to making non-crux images. Anyway, it was nice excursion, and thanks for all the feedback!

Well, you got thrown a bunch of curveballs, and you got them all out of the park. The cornu is particularly devious and this blood soaked image just drips with brutality. She’s not so high and mighty now, naked, gritting her teeth through the pain and getting raped by her cross. Beautiful.

It’s a damn shame if you’re deciding to leave, especially if it’s over getting a title. As far as I’m concerned the quality of your work sings its own merits, so a title is redundant for you. And I understand if you don’t want to no-life it either. It took me five years to get a forum title.

Still... I really want to see you continue making Crux images, you understand how to make them properly better than almost anyone else. I doubt deviantart be cool with the sorts of images you would want to post most often, and I don’t want to see that flame fade.

Jucundus, I was going to craft my own response, but this one has almost everything I would have wanted to say. I have always been an admirer of your craft, you are one of the best around. On the other hand, besides the title thing, your posts, as far as I know, have always been greeted with comments and suggestions, so it's not as if you have been ignored. If you think you have to go, that is your decision, I will miss you.

Hi Jucundus, I'm EXTREMELY sorry that you've decided to leave here (even though for all practical purposes, I'm new here myself).

You are IMO one of the best DAZ artists ANYWHERE!

Incidentally, I sent you a PM here a couple of days ago. if you don't want to reply, that's fine...but just in case you missed it (possibly being unfamiliar with the layout here)...I just wanted to let you know.

I bet most of us want to have such a talented artist as you - just not to an extent to be willing to rewrite the community rules for you, as a special privilege.

At least, I'd like to see you stay and keep posting such artworks myself. But I agree that it's your call to leave us to find some place where you may get such a privilege for being able to use DAZ studio better than some other people.

My dear Jucundus,

it's a real pity, that you have decided to leave this place, but honestly, i saw this coming, sooner or later,
because you are not into cruxification, your heart is not here and the brilliance of your art can't cover this.

I've seen your outstanding art at VoD for exact 4 years and we had together some ups and downs and so
i know how wide your interests are sread, and you never could be happy with only doing on single theme.

After the shut down of VoD, which destroyed so many extreme well done artwork, not only from you, most
of those folke went over to LsF trying to continue, but you are not among them and i can understand you.

It would be great, if you give me a pm, when you have found a new place to post your artwork, so there's
nothing more to say : "Thank you for the music! ", it was nice to have you here among us, REALLY NICE !

To be quite honest I find this reply rude and arrogant. Please, let's have no more childish name calling.
I apologize for the name calling, though perhaps one could say that demanding a title and threatening to leave if one doesn't get one is a touch arrogant as well.

Jucundus, you know that I greatly appreciated the illustrations you made for my Alice story. For those who haven't seen them, they are here http://www.cruxforums.com/xf/threads/punishment-for-pleasure-a-story-for-alice.7098/ (so they aren't lost with VoD shutting down)

You should know that non-crux images are very welcome here. You should also know that posts don't have to only be work you create. Go on some of the threads and comment. Read some stories and comment. That way you can earn your title like everyone else here did...

Pity to see Jucundus go.. IMHO think he is a great artist and deserves a custom title.
1000 low quality posts or a couple of good original artworks that takes lots of time to create?
Give me the original artworks any time.

I undetrstand Jucundus reasons... there is a distinct lack of appriciation of original artworks..

A render gets hundruds of views, only a few likes and even less real comments can make for a dissapointing reward for all the hours an artist invests in it.

I found my own way in this, but I can relate to the feeling.

But IMHO one original artwork is worth more then counting as 1 post.
My suggestion is for the Staff of Moderators to think about that..

Reward Artist (storywriters included) and other makers of high quality post more then you do now.

Without them the forums will bleed dry

Well thats my 2 cents anyways.

I don’t think titles matter that much, to be fair, but I think that a good way to award them to people who want them but don’t want to no-life their way to 1,000 messages is to give them as a perk for donating to the forums.

Moderators are not judges, we're just here to apply the rules and to try and calm down squabbles such as we've seen here. We're not paid, nor do we get any particular reward, and nor would I for one seek any.

As far as titles are concerned, my colleagues explained how they work to Jucundus, they are not particularly 'secret rules' but if he doesn't like the way that or any other part of the forums works he is indeed free to leave. I too would be sorry, I like what you do, Jucundus.

I'm not sure that the title ladder particularly acts as a reward system, but acting in the way that it does it reflects commitment to the forums in that the titles escalate as you post messages and gain likes.

In this thread there seems to be the suggestion that it should reward artistic merit or even reflect the status of contributors in the wider artistic community. Think about it for a moment. How on earth could such a system be operated fairly? Should we all sit down as a group and look at the images or the stories and say, 'this one's good, let's give him a title' or 'this guy has no control over the light, let's put him to the bottom of the ladder,' or even 'this lassie keeps splitting her infinitives, we'll never give her a title!'

Such a system would be patently unworkable. It would be arbitrary and unfair.

That is something up with which we should not put!;):p

As for Crumera's point, I do think original art works or stories are more valuable than re-posts of other's work. It frankly bothers me a bit that a few posts in the one thread I have where I re-post work by others, "Slaves Treated Very Badly" got more "likes" than any of my stories (OK, my stories may suck, but few if any stories have that many likes). Yeah, I realize that some here aren't native English speakers and may not feel up to reading stories, whereas pictures are more broadly accessible.

I have proposed reserving a special section for original art work as opposed to re-posts and some people liked that idea, but it never got implemented. But I certainly agree with Wragg that rating posts for the purposes of titles seems unfair and unworkable. As I pointed out to Jucundus, why not go on some of the many picture threads here and comment on other people's work? Read a story or two and comment on them. That doesn't take much time and makes the forum fun for all.

Frustration about feedback for original creations is a recurring topic on boards like this. Always been so always will be.

Running off because you didn't get a lame badge is not a great move but then again ... artist personalities ... enough said ;)

As far as I understand having a "special title" does not give you any superior forum permissions (moderator abilities, getting your posts more visible, being able to post more/larger images).

So beyond vanity who effing cares?

It's raw numbers so the easiest way to get there is just repost random porn, and maybe follow a few popular episodic stories that go on forever and always post "Great chapter! SO HOT!!!" every time.

Who cares so long as we all remain aware that it is simply a measure of how much you mash the post button.

I am a low engagement user because I mostly post original art, swap a few comments and Q&A, and then I'll drift away again. I don't really use CF as a social network. Why on earth would I need a vanity plate?

There is an issue with too much random image posting and pornspam.

As for the artwork and stories, well some images are guilty of "repeating the same few poses over and over."
Some stories do it too ... the same clichéd characters, the same canned phrases over and over again.

It's called Sturgeon's law, 90% of everything is crap.

Some of the work on here though is superb and that goes for artwork as well as stories.

I have proposed reserving a special section for original art work as opposed to re-posts and some people liked that idea, but it never got implemented.
I support that. It might have downsides such as additional effort for moderators, or fragmenting the forum if it's a closed area.

But it would improve signal to noise ratio and might get some people to engage more who otherwise can't be bothered.

Things being as they are, for those who don't spend hours and hours on the forum wading through all the threads, I think crowdsourced content curation is a good idea.
Which is why I am a fan of threads like these...

- for listing the three favourite stories by OTHER people that you like the most.

- for creators to plug what they consider the ONE favourite piece of their own work. If you do art and stories, one per genre.

- five favourites, and I'm sure Emily won't execute you if the subject matter is outside the crux genre.

Especially the first of these has pointed me n the direction of some new discoveries which might also be new inspirations for artwork.

I'm not a moderator, so please take what I say as just my personal opinion. I'd be happy whatever the moderators would decide on this matter because I don't put that much importance to forum titles myself.

As such, I wouldn't mind making an exception to the community rule regarding forum titles, if it's deemed preferrable. However, I wish such an exception could be made either by a consensus of the community members or discretion from the moderators rather than by some childish threat from anyone who regards oneself above ordinary members.

As someone who's trying to be a 3d artist, and as an author of a unpopular story series myself, I think I understand the frustration of getting your work underappreciated when you put enormous amount of time to create it.

But it's the nature of any online community that you can't always be in the center of attention or loved by everyone, as if the entire site was your own fan club. If you want to have more number of people to like your works, you can either keep contributing quality contents until more people notice them, or encourage them to leave feedbacks.

I can even understand if someone says he would leave unless more people give positive reactions for his works. But when it comes to threatening to leave unless the moderators changes the community rules grant him a special privilege, I feel it to be quite out of the line.

I simply don't want to see random people claiming to be above the rules just because they deem themselves to be more worthy than the ordinary members, for whatever reason. We have popular authors and artists who have larger fanbase than Jucundus has and I've never seen any of them making such a claim before and I think it's better to stay that way.

If we really need to change the rules - even such trivial ones as the one regarding the forum titles - it better be done by a voluntary discussion of the matter, not because someone who feels to be more important than everyone else threatens to leave unless he'll be given a special privilege.

A great debate and I've run out of popcorn following this one.
Speaking personally as a "Magistrate" 3D Artist.
I am really pissed off when a mere "Guard" 3D artist talks like this.
Does anyone care about my feels?
He should be busted back to "Slave"

How about a badge / title for anyone that contributes significant works of art? one for writers one for visual artists. That's on top of the existing rankings.

That content is the essence of this forum yes?

Are you serious? Like a blue Peter badge or something.

Well, this has developed into an interesting discussion about original art.

First, I think that @windar is correct, I am a diva. Divas, like fat-bottom girls, change the world, which is so much too far from being perfect. I am Austrian, we are title fetishists. You cruxfroum guys and gals, of all people, should be familiar with fetishism.

I also think @windar and @algabal have a point: original art, be it stories or images are underappreciated on this site. By the way, @Wragg, did you notice the "like" button, it provides a very objective means of quantifying appreciation, so you might not have to install a board of experts.

I am really pissed off when a mere "Guard" 3D artist talks like this.

Dazza, don`t let the posting capitalists divide us artists. You SHOULD have your title. You deserve it!
