I personally find the "prologue" parts much more intensively moving and interesting than the hanging/dancing part. It's that edge where the person goes from some semblance of healthy, independent personhood with a potential future, and has that stripped away, teetering as they fall back, and dropping over the edge into the inevitable agonizing last dance.

If it was sex (hetero metaphor), it would be the moment when the man and woman look at each other, her legs spread, his cock hard and just teasing her vulva. We both know it will happen, but it hasn't yet, and it's delicious. The edge is important.

Certainly a factual statement.
Does anybody know why? I believe at one time he did not feel appreciated but members quickly disabused him of this notion.
So why did he feel it was necessary to "leave" as opposed to just taking a break or becoming a spectator?
