I Have An Idea; Let's Celebrate...

Twelfth Night is the evening of Jan 5th (the first day of Christmas is Christmas Day)
The Epiphany is Jan 6th.
Orthodox (Julian Calendar) Christmas begins on the evening of the 6th, Christmas Day is the 7th.

At least, that's the 'ecclesiastical' position.
in the secular world there seems to be a fair amount of variation.
Shall we settle on the 7th?
Agreed Eulalia, I always thought that 12th night occurred on Jan 6th. but I've been wrong before.

Apart from those who organise church calendars
(and they of course disagree with each other),
I don't think there's any right or wrong about it. :D

Count your blessings instead of your crosses.
Count your gains instead of your losses.

Count your joys instead of your woes.

Count your friends instead of your foes.

Count your smiles instead of your tears.

Count your courage instead of your fears.

Count your full times instead of your lean.

Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.

Count your health instead of your wealth.

Love your neighbor as much as yourself.

Not my words
But
HAPPY

Also I remembered a joke:
How the Angel got on top of the Christmas tree.

While life at the North Pole is joyous, the responsibility of assuring that good girls and boys receive their Christmas gifts is an important matter. Santa and his elves almost always keep their good humor and work happily until that special night when he takes flight to deliver Christmas gifts all over the world. There was one Christmas; it all started with the elves catching the flu, then of course production went down to zero and Santa knew that there was only one thing that could be done and the angels came down to help.

A training curve was involved, instead of choir practice the angels had to work with tools, paint and wrapping gifts so it took time for production to return to normal so by the time the big night came Santa’s nerves were a little frayed. Then finally when the sled was loaded someone discovered that one of the runners was broken and there was yet another delay while everything was transferred to the backup sled.

The reign deer were hitched up and ready to take flight when a little angle discovered that a Christmas tree had fallen out of the new sled and angel called:

“Santa… Santa what do you want me to do with this tree?”

Happy Russian Christmas
Helmut

oh, sorry Helmut (I'm kneeling by your tree, appropriately humble)
I posted these in Tree's Christmas thread, I do apologise for forgetting yours -
they're cards designed by orphans and children with special needs in Moscow
