I painted a crucified woman

Here’s the cross. Once that dries I will start on the centerpiece figure. In the past I’ve used premixed burnt umber but this brown is mixed from primary colors for a more complex look.
 
This layer is not the final coloring. It is called a Grisaille. It uses black and white to establish the shapes, lighting, and shadows before going back over it in color. I found this technique in a tutorial video and thought it would be helpful to try. This figure is more complex in that the right arm is mostly behind the struggling, arched attempt to pull herself up on the cross.
