In this scene from the series Jamestown, a girl is sentenced to the pillory. The pillory only holds her hands and not her head, but her arms are shackled with heavy chains which prevent her from escaping by slipping her wrists through the holes and add to her discomfort. It is daylight when she is locked in and night time when she is released, so she is apparently on display for several hours.
